"We loved the all inclusive resort. The staff was amazing, The food was outstanding. The chefs were fantastic. Our room was comfortable and clean. The staff was very responsive to special requests. It was a perfect layout to just relax and enjoy the company of family and friends. We upgraded to the Priveledged package upon arrival, and the upgrade was worth every cent. This added access to all the restaurants and the private beach with drink service. The only negatives were initial "offers" for gifts and side trips if we would listen to sales pitches, but I was advised this is typical in the region. It wasn't offensive, and after several rejections, it trailed off. There were a couple minor maintenance issues, but they were handled immediately. Another minor inconvenience was the lack of a resort shuttle service. If we wanted to do any sightseeing we needed to hire a shuttle. I assume the higher-priced resorts would include this service. But since we weren't planning on significant sightseeing, it wasn't an issue. Overall I would rate Catalonia Playa Maroma at 4.5 out of 5 stars. I would highly recommend this resort to those wanting to relax and unwind."
