I absolutely love the Ovolo brand hotels. They’re funky but not in a trying-too-hard way. It’s so great to stay somewhere with a bit of personality. They also have great inclusions and the beds are super comfy. I’m hoping to explore more Ovolo hotels in my travels. I’m so glad this was such a last minute stay as it meant I could just choose my hotel instead of booking via our corporate travel team. I’m so over the Accor brand. The Ovolo staff are very friendly too and again have some personality, just like the hotels. 😊

Booked through WOTIF which advertised onsite and offsite parking. There is no onsite parking - it' s 2 blocks away. Due to lack of time (damn traffic) we ended up parking just around the corner which we had to pay through the nose for. Free mini was great but kinda hoped for a little more on the snack (considering the price we paid) and we didn't get a chance to get the breakfast or the free candy bar and I was super confused about what the 'honesty bar' or whatever it was, was. But that was probably cos we were rushed and didn't have time to take it all in. The bed was comfy, rooms were clean (although very compact) and a nice edition to have Alexa there to play us a song in the morning while we were getting ready. A tonne of places to eat and drink at night but not for breakfast. Unfortunately, due to timing, again, we didn't get to take advantage of this. All staff were super friendly!!

After a poor Airbnb experience, we relocated to Ovolo and found the hotel, room and staff very good. Would highly recommend them.

Close to the theatres & parliament
This was my first time staying at Ovolo Laneways (stayed at their property in South Yarra before) and it was great. So close to Spring Street and with Bourke Street parallel there is access to trams. Her Majesty's Theatre is only a 200 metre walk with the Princess Theatre even closer. Room is large. Only issue I had was the choice of small basin in the bathroom which was difficult to wash my face without wetting the floor then needing the one bath mat to dry it.
