Unbelievable service and excellent hotel
Beautiful view of the lake and island, situated out of the city centre. Service at meal times was good but around d the pool - not good at all.
Great location overlooking Lake Pichola and short walk to City Palace and other major attractions. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They provided detailed tips on what to see and do in Udaipur. Our room, while small, was very clean. The rooftop restaurant had great views of the lake and food. ...
Beautiful rooms. Bar location and ambiance not that lovely. Bar needed outside with the beautiful view of the city.
Well maintained clean hotel.staff is helpful and always willing to help to ensure comfortable stay. Food is tasty and cooked with personal touch taking in account preference of guest. Buffet breakfast is awesome.
Great location, average room. Good restaurants staff. Total staff was short by a couple as any request was taking more time. Overall location if the hotel was helpful for our trip as major areas were at a walking distance.
The location & view from the hotel is impressive! We absolutely loved the sunsets from atop the restaurant. The hotel staff was kind, responsive and respectful. Room could have a better view (ours was facing the wall, with pigeons around) - could change the window location. Veg food options, specifically ...
Great location with lovely views. An indoor restaurant would add to the hotel as it was a bit cold on the terrace in the evening but still enjoyable.
Located on an island in Udaipur’s Lake Pichola, the Lake Palace (or Taj Lake Palace) is a luxury hotel that was originally built as a winter palace for Maharana Jagat Singh II between 1743 and 1746. Today the magnificent palace is an 83-room and suites property that has been voted India’s most romantic hotel.
The original Lake Palace spans 16,000 square metres on the island of Jag Niwas and was originally named the Jagniwas. The palace was built facing the east so that inhabitants could pray to Surya (the sun) every morning at dawn. Its courtyard featured pillared terraces, columns, gardens and fountains, which can still be seen today. The Lake Palace was restored into a lavish hotel in 1963 and is famous for being used in the James Bond film Octopussy.
Since it opened its doors as a hotel, a number of famous people have stayed at the Taj Lake Palace, including Jacqueline Kennedy, Vivian Leigh, Queen Elizabeth and the Shah of Iran. A boat from a jetty on the mainland takes guests from the City Palace to the award-winning hotel, though non-guests are also welcome to visit.
