Fiumicino is two things, one, the town, part of the greater Rome municipal district, and two, Rome-Fiumicino airport, the larger one of Rome's two major airports.

Beautiful Airport. Lots of shopping/Food Options. However, taxi Q needs to be sorted, we waited 1.5 hours after an 11 hour flight, totally unacceptable. Also, baggage handling is slow compare to all other Airports.

A surprising little area in the Mediterranean. Only problem is the skins of the planes overhead since you're so close to the airport.

I wish we new about the shuttle to the hotel from the airport. Not only we had to wait some 30 minutes for a taxi, but it was also expensive, 34 Euros for a 8 minutes ride to hotel. Shuttle is 10 Euros pp to hotel and 6 Euros back to airport.
"We stayed here when visiting Rome and had a double tent - the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean and the room/tent was secure. It was close to transit and being able to come back and soak in the pool after walking in Rome all day was wonderful. It is very family friendly. "
"This was a fun well designed hotel in a great location. While it is part of a chain there was nice vibe in the lobby lounge area and room was nice if very small as most Roman rooms for a decent price. I’ll be back. "
