The name Epcot® stands for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, a theme park of epic proportions, transporting visitors into the future of human innovation. Spanning a staggering 121 hectares, Epcot® has two main areas: Future World and World Showcase. Visitors are treated to the latest in innovation and technology at Future World, while World Showcase displays a number of pavilions dedicated to 11 different nations. World Showcase exhibits the past and present cultures of nations from around the world, an amazing display of information and history.
Situated an approximate 35 kilometres southwest of downtown Orlando, Epcot® is one of four theme parks at Walt Disney World® Resort. Upon entering the park, you are brought face to face with Epcot®’s famous icon, affectionately known as the “giant golf ball", this gigantic sphere offers visitors the opportunity to take a ride on Spaceship Earth, an in depth journey through the history of human communication.
Reach for the stars at Future World and head down to Mission: SPACE®, an enormous shuttle capsule simulating a flight to Mars. Future World also simulates a hang gliding flight through its attraction Soarin' Around the World. Allowing visitors to sample some of the world's greatest sights, this attraction is a truly breath-taking example of human engineering and flight simulation. Other popular activities include the Test Track®, an attraction fronted by Chevrolet offering visitors the opportunity to design a racing car and put it to the test on a racing track.
For those with big appetites and a taste for international cuisine, World Showcase is the place to be. Stroll through the 11 pavilions and sample each countries fantastically unique cuisine. Pick up a souvenir from each country in the world and enjoy the beautiful scenery surrounding the nearby lagoon.
There is plenty of fun for the kids at the Seas with Nemo & Friends® attraction. With its enormous aquarium, amusement rides and interactive activities, there is much to keep the kids entertained. The Turtle Talk activity is definitely worth seeing, even for adults. This interactive activity offer kids the chance to talk to a turtle from the Disney Pixar movie Finding Nemo.
