"Our first experience of Sri Lanka and historic Galle Face Hotel was outstanding well managed and maintained to high quality. All the staff from reception to pool were amazing so helpful and courteous. The buffet restaurant is amazing Salt water Pool! It is about 50 mins from airport about 3 hours to Sigiriya and Dambulla for the rock fortress. We loved it!"

"Mixed experience. The room was a good size, the pool area was pleasant and never felt overcrowded, and the gym was modern and well equipped. Breakfast also offered a wide choice, and staff throughout the hotel were generally polite and welcoming. What let it down was the overall standard of service. Check-in felt unpolished and slightly disjointed — we weren’t given basic practical information such as breakfast times, where breakfast was served, or the opening hours for the pool and gym. The breakfast room was very busy and we had to find a table ourselves, which felt out of step with what you would expect from a hotel at this level. The bedroom itself had a noticeable stale smell that was difficult to shift given the windows cannot be opened. We also experienced intermittent issues with the Wi-Fi, which was frustrating. So overall, disappointing, particularly compared to other Shangri-la hotels. What I would say was that we provided this feeeback directly to the hotel and the GM personally acknowledged the issues which was appreciated from a customer service perspective. "

"Excellent hotel well managed, comfortable room with a great view. Courteous staff and knowledgeable. Spent 20 days without a single issue. Easy access garage and great security. Great breakfast buffet daily. Food was great at all times at the restaurant. "

"There was no spa in the premises. breakfast was average but the staff were helpful. Room conditions also average . Tbh, this hotel needs proper renovation! "

"This is far from a 4* hotel. The property is VERY run down and so many things are broken. It needs urgent repairs but nobody seems to be bothered. Staff at check in were not bothered at all, take it or leave it attitude. The doorman/porter was the only nice person. Check-in was at 2pm I arrived at 5pm waited for a hour and my room was still not ready. After 2 hours still nothing but nobody was bothered, so I went elsewhere. Overall worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in "

"The apartment was tired and broken, the walls dirty, kitchen draws broken, bed uncomfortable, no kettle, the bathroom was peeling, no alcohol permitted on the premises!! Beetles in the bathroom at night, we checked out a night early as the place was so depressing - I cannot understand how it has got such good reviews "
