Krabi’s busiest and most built-up beach resort, where limestone hills meet the sea, is a pleasant holiday destination. The former fishing village is now one of the liveliest towns in the province, though it still holds some of its traditional charm. Ao Nang is also a main gateway to the nearby islands and less accessible beaches, with longtail boats leaving the east end of the beach regularly.Don’t Miss
There is some stunning scenery in and around Ao Nang and its nearby islands and you may need at least one week to truly get a feel for the beach resort and its surrounding area.
If you love the water, Ao Nang is great for swimming and kayaking as well as being a popular base for scuba diving trips. It is also possible to take a boat trip to beaches nearby that have no road access or to a nearby island
If you are more of the adventure type try these: rock climbing at nearby Railay Beach, jungle trekking through the Phanom Bencha National Park or white water rafting. Those who want to have a more relaxing time can get pampered at a spa, soak in hot springs or stroll along the picturesque Nopparat Thara Beach.Restaurants and Bars
Eating is quite satisfying in Ao Nang, as there is a great selection at all price levels. For the cheapest eats, buy Thai street food from one of the street stalls that are scattered around the village and main beach road, while the beachfront restaurants have the most expensive menus, but you get to enjoy the stunning sunset. Seafood is a highlight in Ao Nang, but there is also a wide selection of international cuisine available. Night owls will have no trouble finding a place to drink in Ao Nang, with Centre Point (on the main beach road) and The Soi (200 metres from the beach) being the most lively strips.Shopping
Ao Nang’s beachfront road is lined with shops selling regular tourist fare, as are the streets leading off of it. Clothing, footwear, beachwear, souvenirs and handicrafts are in abundance. You can also take a taxi or songthaew to Krabi Town for its night market or weekend walking street market.
