"Uber trendy - Great food"
I had a great experience. Very friendly service from the desk to the valet. The room was small but very comfortable and had a great view (I would request the North side of the hotel). It would be a perfect place for a couple (esp a young couple) to get away or younger friends who might be traveling together. The bar area and the restaurants are geared to a younger crowd at night so if you return late you'll find a DJ in the lobby and more of a nightclub atmosphere. I'd stay elsewhere if you're with the family but perfectly fine and fun for a business traveler. The food on site is incredible. Pot is one of the newest, hottest restaurants in LA and it lives up to the hype. I stayed here for work as it was one of the less expensive places in the area (that might be because of the Expedia deal; I can't imagine one would always get that type of deal). Eat at Pot, get the fruit salad for breakfast from room service. If you are looking for a place where you will be able to walk to attractions, this isn't the place for you. I was spending most of my time in Hollywood and it was about a 20-25 minute drive.

I want to LA to visit my daughter for a 4 day weekend. She came and stayed with me at the hotel - it was a vacation for both of us! From check in till check out, we were treated well by very friendly, competent staff.

"WONDERFUL HOTEL!"
Looked up quite a few in that area...either booked or upwards of 500.00/night. We found this for 270.00! The only extra was valet of 40.00 which is common for that area. One of the perks was checking in at 5:00..wine tasting 5-6 on Saturdays! Woo hoo!

"Nice to feel safe"
This is the 2nd time I've stayed here... The first was for 2 weeks and this time was for 3. This time there was a fully functioning laundry room, so it has helped make my stay more comfortable by having the ability to clean my clothes here. Yes the area itself is not the nicest and if you've never stayed or lived in an area other than in a sheltered 4/5* facilities/amenities than no this place isn't for you. But the area is not that bad (as a single woman I have walked around well past midnight) and the managers are very hot on checking you got back safely. (Anyone who says staff are unfriendly obviously haven't taken the time to chat to them as people. They all know my first name, remembered me when I checked in for this second trip, and remembered the friends I travelled with last time. They've never been anything other than friendly and helpful to me, and they make me feel safe and happy to come here again and again.) I will warn the lack of coffee making facilities in the room does suck, and if you're used to a hearty hotel breakfast, you won't get that here... But there is a coffee place 2 minutes down the road so makes no difference to me. It's located between 2 bus routes which can meet your needs (10 which gets you to nr Hollywood & 200 which gets you to metro stop red/purple line) which is perfect for travelling around.

    Pocket Guide: Los Angeles

Home to a bevy of superstars and wannabes, Los Angeles is a buzzing multicultural melting pot blessed by around 330 days of sunshine each year. Long regarded as the hub of modern cinema, the City of Angels plays host to the film industry's glitzy night of nights, the Academy Awards, each year at Hollywood's Kodak theater. From the iconic Hollywood sign to the Walk of Fame, there are countless camera opportunities to be had, as well as the chance to enjoy some star-spotting!

    On the big screen

Film buffs will appreciate a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the magic of the silver screen at Universal Studios Hollywood, and music fans should make a stop at Capitol Records' circular tower on Vine Street. The label's studios are renowned for their unique acoustic properties, and are the home of big-name artists such as the Beastie Boys, Frank Sinatra, and Lily Allen.

If the hype and glamour of Tinseltown gets to be a bit too much, take a break at one of Los Angeles' famous white sandy beaches. Stretching over 72 miles, there's something to suit every taste, from colorful Venice Beach to Malibu's epic surfing beaches. Or you could hire an open-top car and take the Pacific Coast Highway from Santa Monica past LA's multi-million-dollar beachside mansions. This state highway offers one of America's best scenic drives, from wild coastal scrub to expansive beach views. And with a mild year-round Mediterranean climate, you'll find it easy to while away a lazy afternoon in the sun.

    Multicultural mode

As the second-largest city in the United States, and with more than 220 different languages spoken by its residents, Los Angeles has a truly diverse identity. Used as a backdrop to films including 'Rush Hour' and 'Lethal Weapon 4', Chinatown is the perfect place to catch an independent art exhibition or sit down to a Peking Duck.

Step back in time along Olvera Street, regarded as the birthplace of Los Angeles, where Mexican and Latino culture is kept alive with traditional market stalls and restaurants. Or check out the many clubs and karaoke bars (noraebangs) in Koreatown, well-known for its thriving nightlife.

    Rodeo Drive, baby

Of course, Los Angeles is all about retail therapy, and where better to indulge than in one of the city's legendary shopping enclaves. See and be seen along trendy Melrose Avenue, where big international designers vie for attention, or dig out some rare vintage finds on La Brea Avenue. For the ultimate in LA style, have your own 'Pretty Woman' moment on Rodeo Drive, where the rich and famous top up their Chanel, Gucci, and Cartier collections.

A city of style and opportunities, it's no wonder Los Angeles has long been a magnet for travellers and young hopefuls alike. With its mix of fame, glamour, and natural beauty, there's no doubt the magic of the City of Angels lives on.
