A bit surprised to find the shower/toilet down the hall, but I didn't read the fine print. Wasn't a problem.

"Hotel was really nice and cozy"
I had the best time out in Hollywood/LA. I think the hotel had a lot to do with it. Staying in a clean-organized environment made us very comfortable. I liked that the receptionist had a lot of ideas and recommendations for our trip there. I would say we did 5 out of the 6 things they had shared with us. I love going down So Cal, especially when I stay at these awesome hotels.

"Pleasant Surprise"
I booked this hotel and then read the reviews (mistake) and was nervous because the hotel doesn't allow cancellations, which is their main setback. Getting into the hotel can be a little confusing, but they indicated that they sent me a video, which I never received. However, they had someone available quickly to help get me in. Once that part was figured out, the hotel (apartment) was very nice. Clean and roomy. A full one-bedroom apartment with laundry. Parking was an extra $25 per day which is fine, but it didn't tell me in the reservation to book that ahead of time. I was still able to get parking, it was just another phone call that had to be made. Our room was only a block off Hollywood Blvd, which, depending on the type of trip you're taking, could be good or bad. For us, we enjoyed being able to get up and walk around and enjoy the area. The pool area looked nice, but we never used it. Overall, I'd say it was a pretty good stay and would go back.

"Nice Quiet Hotel"
This hotel was the cheapest I could find close enough to our point of interest (Universal Studios). The bed was comfortable and the area was quiet. At first I thought it would be a noisy area since it is off a major street but to my surprise it wasn't. The only minor thing wrong was the Expedia site said parking was free but it was actually $5 per day. However, it was covered parking. The other minor complaint is the TV takes awhile to work and at first the language is some other foreign language. After working with the remote , we were able to watch regular TV. For the short stay we had and only needed a quiet comfortable room with free wi-fi I would stay again.

"The old reviews did not help!!"
So when my fiancé and I first booked our package I must say I was surprised that I got a 5 night stay along with car rental and flight for 1,600. After I had read the reviews I was upset, a lot of people had negative things to say. But everything was booked and I thought we will made the best of it. Make a long story short the hotel was AWESOME! The continental breakfast was great! They served omelets, waffles, cereal, sausage, juice, coffee, and tea and much more. The staff was friendly and nice! They have a laundry room as well! And a pool. They offer parking for $20 a night and free wifi. Now how many hotels you know offer all those amenities for a great price. It is located 15 to 20 minute drive from universal studios and Santa Monica. It's about a 10 minute drive to Hollywood walk of fame. And a lot of eating places walking distant from the hotel. I must say I did not have any regrets and would def recommend for people to stay at the Hollywood Hotel!

I stayed for 6 nights here and every single day and night all of the staff were very very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much. Hotel is groovy, rooms are spacious enough, complimentary toiletries are very good quality, bed was super comfy and breakfast by by the pool each morning was delightful. Exceptional hotel for the money.

    Pocket Guide: Los Angeles

Home to a bevy of superstars and wannabes, Los Angeles is a buzzing multicultural melting pot blessed by around 330 days of sunshine each year. Long regarded as the hub of modern cinema, the City of Angels plays host to the film industry's glitzy night of nights, the Academy Awards, each year at Hollywood's Kodak theater. From the iconic Hollywood sign to the Walk of Fame, there are countless camera opportunities to be had, as well as the chance to enjoy some star-spotting!

    On the big screen

Film buffs will appreciate a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the magic of the silver screen at Universal Studios Hollywood, and music fans should make a stop at Capitol Records' circular tower on Vine Street. The label's studios are renowned for their unique acoustic properties, and are the home of big-name artists such as the Beastie Boys, Frank Sinatra, and Lily Allen.

If the hype and glamour of Tinseltown gets to be a bit too much, take a break at one of Los Angeles' famous white sandy beaches. Stretching over 72 miles, there's something to suit every taste, from colorful Venice Beach to Malibu's epic surfing beaches. Or you could hire an open-top car and take the Pacific Coast Highway from Santa Monica past LA's multi-million-dollar beachside mansions. This state highway offers one of America's best scenic drives, from wild coastal scrub to expansive beach views. And with a mild year-round Mediterranean climate, you'll find it easy to while away a lazy afternoon in the sun.

    Multicultural mode

As the second-largest city in the United States, and with more than 220 different languages spoken by its residents, Los Angeles has a truly diverse identity. Used as a backdrop to films including 'Rush Hour' and 'Lethal Weapon 4', Chinatown is the perfect place to catch an independent art exhibition or sit down to a Peking Duck.

Step back in time along Olvera Street, regarded as the birthplace of Los Angeles, where Mexican and Latino culture is kept alive with traditional market stalls and restaurants. Or check out the many clubs and karaoke bars (noraebangs) in Koreatown, well-known for its thriving nightlife.

    Rodeo Drive, baby

Of course, Los Angeles is all about retail therapy, and where better to indulge than in one of the city's legendary shopping enclaves. See and be seen along trendy Melrose Avenue, where big international designers vie for attention, or dig out some rare vintage finds on La Brea Avenue. For the ultimate in LA style, have your own 'Pretty Woman' moment on Rodeo Drive, where the rich and famous top up their Chanel, Gucci, and Cartier collections.

A city of style and opportunities, it's no wonder Los Angeles has long been a magnet for travellers and young hopefuls alike. With its mix of fame, glamour, and natural beauty, there's no doubt the magic of the City of Angels lives on.
