"It's 30mins away from Barajas Airport by car."
It only costs 30€ from the hotel to the airport and the hotel is located near a station and it's very easy to find. The room was perfect with an air conditioner working. I loved it.

"Great hotel - steps away from Gran Via"
Hotel Indigo was clean and modern. We enjoyed 4 nights at the hotel. When the taxi drove us down Calle de Silva, we were a bit skeptical. Hotel is not exactly on the best street but it is literally steps away from Gran Via. When we first checked in, the room given to us smelled of smoke, however, the front desk was able to quickly solve the situation. Front desk was extremely courteous and Roberto was very personable. The hotel is new so everything was pretty much what I expected. Husband and I loved the showers - great water pressure. There was a Nespresso machine in the room with complimentary water which was a plus. There was also a safe in the closet for our use. The bed was comfy but the pillows were terrible. Too soft! We did not get to use the rooftop pool but it looked clean. The location of the hotel was nice - literally steps away from Gran Via and a short walk away from Puerta del Sol. I would def stay at this hotel again.

"single room was dark and dingy"
I had a single room which was small and cheerless. It had a tiny window that looked into a central shaft of the hotel. TV was old style. Room was serviced everyday , however. Good location for attractions and transport.

"Amazing location. Great price. Dodgy beds."
First off let me say the overall rating for this hotel is superb. With a prime location on the Gran Via (the hotel is a feature of many postcards in Madrid) and a view down the Gran Via itself, rooftop bar and casual area, this is a nice place to be. The price was really great too -- even in high season. Even the rack rates at the desk were decent. Very friendly staff, and all key reception personnel spoke good English which always makes things easier. We didn't try the breakfast, and at eur18 it didn't sound like that good value. There were just a few TV channels, mostly news channels. The in-room Internet access on the TV didn't work at all. But there was decent free WiFi throughout the hotel which was great (Though limited to basic browsing/email use). The biggest annoyance was the noisy always-on aircon, with a very bright green LED shining at the bed. And the beds. Sure, we booked a room which said "Double/Twin" but it was just twins, with twin sheets, and no way to couple the two beds together which inevitably meant a gap down the middle of the two by morning. Rather a shame. I would go back to this hotel, and possibly even upgrade to a Suite rather than the standard "double/twin" as that should guarantee a proper double bed. For the price and location, this is a winner.

Pocket Guide: Madrid Gran Via Hotels

Musicals, hotels, shops and restaurants make the Gran Via a rich vein of entertainment, finishing in the east with the black dome of the Metropolis building. The heart of Madrid, the Puerta del Sol contains the statue of the symbolic bear of Madrid and Tio Pepe sherry sign. Westwards, the grand Plaza Mayor was once the site of inquisitions and executions, but is now mostly visited for its terrace cafes.
