Shilin Night Markets is the largest and most famous market in Taipei. It sits in the Shilin district near the Ming Chuan University Taipei Campus and the Jiantan metro station. The market is split into two areas: the old Shilin Market building that is filled with food stalls and small restaurants, and the shops surrounding it that sell souvenirs, clothing, shoes and cosmetics.
The main building of the Shilin Night Markets has a food court with over 530 stalls on the first floor and a 400-vehicle car park on the second floor. Famous dishes served in the market include oyster omelette, tempura, pea milk tea and fried chicken. The side streets and alleyways surrounding the building are lined with shops, bars, video arcades and cinemas.
