"The property couldn’t have been more centrally located. Absolutely 10/10 for location. The first room we had was fine until 4am one day and this awful noise began coming from beneath the sink. Some sort of electrical fuse that was emitting noise. We were moved to another room that was next to the kitchen so that was fine until about 6am when they began prepping for breakfast. Aside from that- it was clean and was adequate for what Americans would expect. Staff was helpful despite the 4am move and from kitchen both responses: we are sorry about that"

"The Jan Van Luyken is a connected set of Amsterdam townhouses in a perfect location for visiting the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum as well. The transportation adjacent to the property provides streetcar and bus access to the broader city and also the airport. These features alone make it an easy choice for museum lovers! The property itself offers a buffet breakfast that provides a good start for the day - Breads, Croissants, Fruit, Eggs, Lox and Juices.....and of course Coffee and Tea. Ample to begin your day in Amsterdam. In the evening you will find an hour of savory snacks, as well as beer and wine for cocktail hour before venturing out for an evening in Amsterdam. The staff are very helpful and eager to please.....the public areas are comfortable and invite you to stay and read a book or visit for a while. There is also a garden area and a gym for those who follow a routine. Loved our stay at the Jan Van Luyken!!!"

"Just spent 3 nights at this hotel, firstly it was in a perfect position just on the outskirts of the centre but near enough to walk to and from. We arrived by Eurostar and walked down to the hotel which took about 45mins taking our time and looking in shop windows all the way. The room was perfect for our needs there was a kettle so we could make ourselves a hot drink, tea and milk were not replenished but we had plenty of stuff with us. The bathroom was compact however the shower was a usual size cubicle and the hot water was plentiful. The balcony was a bonus and we even had one evening where we're sat with the doors open till 10pm which we didn't expect in October. The bed was a little soft for me as I'm used to a hard bed, however we were so shattered after walking all day I still managed to sleep ok. The area was quiet both during the day and in the evenings, we walked through the park on our last day and it is a nice park with lots of different birds to look out for. The price we paid was very reasonable and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, it was so easy to walk or jump on a tram from where we were and if you didn't want to stray far there were plenty of places very close by to eat or drink at. The reception are happy to hold your bags for you which is always a bonus. If you are looking for somewhere convenient,clean and with decent amenities this place is perfect."
