Fantastic location and b&b, we stayed in the lodge and it was beautiful, fantastic couple who run it with good access to local areas to visit such as lindisfarn, bamburgh. We will definitely go back and highly recommend this b&b. The breakfast was excellent

I have stayed in a number of hotels in Newcastle and this was the best stay. The room was spacious with a well equipped mini kitchen and we had prepared 2 good evening meals there. The bed was so comfortable and the location made the hotel quiet which is a change to the noise and sirens throughout the night in my other stays! Lovely stay, food was fantastic. Both evening meal and breakfast was devine. Room was beautiful and immaculate. Great castle with lots of history, we did the castle tour that they do every morning which we thought was a lovely touch.

A very impressive and imposing hotel that's clearly benefited from a multi-million pound revamp in the last year. I was offered a voucher each day for a free pint in return for foregoing daily housekeeping services and I thought this was a nice perk. Breakfasts are of the self-service variety and generally everything was in good supply, although all the croissants had gone occasionally. All in all an excellent base for a stay in Tynemouth, a gem of the North East.

We used the hotel as a base whilst I underwent some tests and procedures at the Royal Victoria infirmary. The staff could not have been more helpful and all in all the quality of our stay was exceptional. The bedrooms are understated but well-equipped. This place is a HUGE hidden gem! From start to finish, the service, staff, spa, value for money, everything was fantastic! We have stayed in many many hotels in the UK and this hotel has to be our favourite. The secret garden spa for an extra £25pp is worth every penny! We stayed in Tiplady 4 and it was perfect sitting outside as it was south facing so ordered a bottle of wine and nibbles before going to Nu Sana for an evening meal. Fantastic, authentic castle with such history and higgledy piggledy corridors. It was our anniversary and we were welcomed with an anniversary card which was a nice touch. The staff were excellent. We only had breakfast which was delicious and staff were efficient and friendly. The food in the library looked good. We had a courtyard room and were very happy with it. If you're expecting modern, corporate decor it might not be for you but we liked it and so nice to stay in a castle with character....

Such a great hotel. Safe and child friendly. The staff are always friendly, helpful and ensure the stay is to a high standard.

Lovely one night stay. The Sunday lunch was delicious, the room was lovely with a huge round bath. Staff were all helpful and friendly. Nice breakfast. I'm sure we'll return.
