From the moment we were dropped off by our cab we felt like we were part of a family here. Tony and Marius greeted us warmly, especially making a fuss over the kids (we have 4, under 13). The rest of the staff were likewise helpful, friendly and funny. As we were checking in Maisie whisked the kids away for an activity…. A distraction that was so welcome after a day of travel.
The location was incredible- we looked across to the Buckingham Palace Mews. We did the tour and highly recommend it for a glimpse of what goes on behind the walls.
We were under 20 min walk to most of our destinations like Westminster Abbey, Knightsbridge, Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus. It is around the corner from Victoria Station, which would have been handy were it not for the rail strikes during our visit.
The rooms are each unique, dressed in “royal” finishes. There were several options for dining. We tried the Curry Room which was an incredible experience of flavours and service. Afternoon Tea was a major highlight for us all- service, sandwiches, scones and sweets, washed down with tea…. Or bottomless champagne! The New York Bar, off the lobby, had expertly crafted drinks and very good bar food. We all enjoyed the entertainment from the resident lounge singer! The kids had creative mocktails.
I could go on… but we really enjoyed this hotel for both location and comfort, but mainly for the warmth and charm of the staff which would make us want to come back again!
