The Stones Hotel - Legian Bali

10/10 Excellent
"This has to be one of our favourite places to stay in Bali. The rooms are beautiful and clean. Staff are very helpful. The breakfast is great but so is the food you can get throughout the day. The pool is very well maintained and it is very enjoyable to stay by the pool all day. Great amenities. Some might say that the prices are high compared to other places in Bali. We have stayed at many throughout the last decade, and this is 100% you get what you pay for. Recommend it for solo travellers, couples and families."

Find out more about Kuta

About Kuta

When visitors think of Bali, they immediately think of the nightlife, beaches and fun-filled atmosphere of Kuta. This beach resort is heavily influenced by tourism as it stands as one of Indonesia’s premier holiday treasures. Even though the city can seem chaotic and congested at times, the area is very visitor-friendly. With a five-kilometre beach front, plenty of restaurants and iconic nightlife, Kuta always provides guests a memorable holiday experience.

Don’t Miss

Surfing in Kuta is one of the main attractions to this area. The beachfront is long, lacking rocks or coral, and the waves are not overly large. This makes it a great place for beginners. Nevertheless, travellers don’t have to be new to surfing to enjoy the waves here. There are plenty of board rentals in the beachfront hotels and along the beach. They tend to be cheap and reliable.

Even though Kuta is a chaotic destination, there are plenty of relaxing activities for visitors. Spas are in abundance, and massage parlours are inexpensive and ubiquitous across Kuta. There are even numerous yoga services and meditation facilities which provide world-class services at a respectable price.

The city doesn’t have too many attractions. However, one place all visitors must see is the Bali Bombing Memorial. In 2002, over 200 people were killed in a nightclub bombing, which is remembered at this site. Visitors are asked to respect the fallen by remaining silent while viewing this beautiful memorial.

Restaurants and Bars

Kuta is famous for its bakso dish, which is a meatball soup with egg noodles. However, there is an enormous range of food in this beachfront destination. Local Balinese food is often overshadowed by Western delicacies, while Indonesian, Indian, and fusion seafood restaurants are available too. Nightlife in Kuta is unrivalled. The main area for an evening out is Jalan Legian. However, Poppies Lane II bars are also quite renowned, thanks to their cheaper drinks and laid-back atmosphere.

Shopping

The most popular spot to shop in Kuta is Kuta Square. It is found at the northern end of the plaza at Jalan Kartika. Various retail and service shops are available, including a large T-shirt retailer on the third floor. Surf shops are located everywhere, with some world-renowned brands available at extremely cheap prices. Bali Mall Galleria and Discovery Shopping Mall are among the largest department stores operating in the city.
