Hotel Mousai Puerto Vallarta - All Inclusive - Adults Only

2/10 Terrible

"Paid for all inclusive and they had "premium" options so it wasnt really all inclusive. Front desk tried to upsell SPAs everytime they saw us . Had early check in and the concierge said room would be ready in about half an hour but waited almost 2 hours for it. Paid extra for a private beach dinner and when we showed up they weren't ready, they said you can come back tomorrow or wait about an hour an a half very unprofessional. The rooms speaker and tablet would not fully connect at times. Tried calling concierge for dinner reservations and they simply said that restaurants closed and hung up . Overall very nice room but for the price i paid I could have gone somewhere better with no extra add ons and no pressure into buying anything."

"The resort was updated; the restaurants were great; the activities staff, Denise and Maria, were great; very enthusiastic and friendly; the shows were entertaining. There was only one bar where many people gathered after the shows; not enough seating. My only complaint is on the day we left the resort, we hired a private driver to take us to the airport. Upon exiting the resort gate, but while still on the property, our driver was stopped by a taxi driver. He asked our driver for the 'permit,' and then said it wasn't valid because it didn't have a stamp. He wanted our driver to pay him money; apparently this is common practice as the taxi drivers lose money when outside companies are used and they expect the private companies to pay them the money lost. The taxi driver told our driver, he would be followed and then summoned another driver that was nearby to follow us. We were followed for an extended time. At one point, our driver pulled to the side of the road to talk to the person that was following us, offered him money, which he refused, as it wasn't the amount he wanted. We continued to be followed until our driver took a different route to lose the taxi driver. We felt very unsafe during this ordeal. This is something the hotel staff must be aware of and my question is, why do they allow it? Why don't they have security outside to prevent this from happening. As a result, I will not be returning to this resort."

Hotel Encino Malecón Centro Puerto Vallarta

10/10 Excellent

"Had a good stay at Encino Hotel. It's near a lot of great attractions. Artwork and sculptures down the boardwalk, shops and restaurants. It’s near Zona Romántica for nightlife and artistic shows. Beach is also very nearby, Encino Hotel can provide beach towel. Staff are helpful and polite. My room was air conditioned which was a lifesaver. I love the heat and sun, but having a modern temperature controlled escape was nice. The only thing to point out is that they don’t allow guests. I didn’t clarify if they meant no guests at all or no guests staying the night. The rules in Spanish I believe imply no guests at all. I understand no guests staying the night, but to not have any guests at all seems a lot."

"Everything is fantastic as usual, but please bring back your great Mexican seafood you had back in the days… (to many hot dogs and dry burgers) And it’s definitely not the fault of personal. You just changing your concept. Shrimp tacos, ceviche and aqua chile became I little less exciting than before"

Hotel Porto Allegro - Near Malecon

6/10 Okay

"Staff is excellent- this is not about them. Rooms are pretty low grade in that they really need to be re painted- patches every where. The headboards for the beds don’t match the size of the bed: king size bed with queen size headboard. Could only get lukewarm water in the shower- was never hot. They did prepare breakfast fresh which is great. The photos on Expedia show this place under much better lighting conditions and filters- the upstairs rooftop tub of water- I think only children would be willing to enter. I would bet no one lounges in the chairs and no one used the fiberglass water container. I was not in my room much & it was $90 US a night so yes it was cheap and I did expect cheap -but I don’t think it would take much maintenance to make the rooms MUCH more pleasurable. Again staff were all very kind and pleasurable very sweet staff throughout. If you are American- it is the equivalent of a Motel 6 minus a pool."
