"Incredible hotel with old world elegance "
We stayed at this hotel for an early Valentines Day and the hotel didn't disappoint. From the sumptuous seating areas to the art and chandeliers, it was gorgeous. We stayed in the Ulysses Suite which is a one of a kind Suite in the hotel and it was absolutely amazing! ! We will definitely stay again!

"Old World Hotel in the Heart of San Diego"
Great location, wonderful staff attention, and offerings for service and amenities. If only the weather had cooperated, it would have been amazing. It was beautiful and very centrally located with underground parking, if you have to have a car for other parts of your trip. Parking there is expensive, but not unexpected.

"Create a Memory and Stay at The Keating"
The Keating is an exemplary establishment with empathetic and attentive staff. From the moment that we walked into the foyer, to when we collected our vehicle every element was perfect. Location - central and cool in the Gaslamp district Decor - we took as many photos of the hotel as we did of San Diego! Staff - knew what we wanted before we did. When we asked for brunch recommendations, they were spot on with what we were looking for! If you go to San Diego and don't stay at The Keating, it's like going to Paris and not seeing the Eiffel Tower!

"Nice downtown hotel w/ great access to everything"
I needed to stay at a hotel for a week because of repairs to my home. I also needed a place that would accept pets. And, I wanted a place that would be close to my work, which is downtown. The Sofia was reasonably priced and fit the bill. I knew that the Sofia had been completely remodeled and was now considered a nice boutique hotel. I was impressed with the quality of the remodel and the aesthetics of the hotel. Although my room was small, it was very comfortable and nice. Towels, bedding were good quality. Carpet clean and modern. Kind of odd shower arrangement with no curtain or full screen. It allowed bathroom floor to get pretty wet. Television was great but channel selection was limited. There was free wifi. Hallways were fine. Elevators were small but operated okay. Lobby had several areas where you could sit and chat or watch television, although you couldn't change the channels, which was a little aggravating. Currant restaurant was accessible from hotel lobby. This is a high quality restaurant with great happy hour deals on food and drinks. Other restaurants very close. All staff encountered were great. Hotel is within walking distance of downtown San Diego restaurants, waterfront, shopping (Horton Plaza, Seaport Village), and downtown businesses, courts, law firms, banks. 7/11 in next block. Trolley within a block. Homeless people an issue near hotel, but this is the case throughout downtown San Diego - really unfortunate situation.

"In town for Business and Marine Graduation"
Hotel was really great. The location is perfect as it is not exactly in the middle of the Gaslamp but is simply a block walk away. Weekend exterior noise can be loud but not to the point of being a distraction from the stay. Overall staff was great but will make one complaint. Kimpton is know for getting anything you need during your stay. I asked for 3 sets of disposable eating utensils, was offered real utensils but when I mentioned I was taking it to the Marine Base to have lunch with my son he wouldn't allow me to take them. I was then told I should walk to the drug store down the road to buy my own. This is the same hotel that brags they accommodated a guest request for a live goldfish in the room.

"Fantastic hotel in the heart of Gaslamp District"
I stayed here while I was at a conference because the deal I got from Expedia was better than staying at a conference hotel, and there was free wifi that was paid at the other hotels. I was pleasantly surprised when I checked in and realised how good of a deal I really got. The hotel staff was amazing; Dan checked me in three hours early, and upgraded me to a King room on the top floor because the room (a queen bed) wasn't available yet. I was also shocked to learn that the hotel offered complimentary beverages in the mini-fridge, including pop, still and carbonated water. In addition, they would give you a small basket including chips, a granola bar, and a small fancy chocolate every day. In this day and age, where complimentary items are few and far between in hotels - and most nice hotels charge you for everything including wifi - I was impressed that the Andaz goes out of their way to provide these little luxury items. To top it off, I ran out of deodorant during my stay and they brought me up a small travel size one within minutes, free of charge. This was my first stay at an Andaz, and I can say that I will be looking for this hotel again - the staff was quite knowledgeable, extremely friendly, the ambience was great, and I felt special while staying there. Given that the cost of this hotel was comparable, if not cheaper, than many of the big hotels that charge you for everything - I think this hotel is the perfect option if you're looking to stay around the Gaslamp.
