We were looking for a more traditional Japenese experience whilst also wanting to see the Snow Monkeys and this place did not disappoint! Great accommodation, very comfortable, decent choice of food from the vending machines, good breakfast. Perfect location... 3-minute walk from the cableway up to Kagura ski resort and the bus stop from the train station. They also offer discounted ski passes (cheaper than the ski resort) and Onsen passes. Highly recommend for those looking to ski at Kagura or explore the area.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Sakurai. We booked the top floor suites, which came with several extra benefits. The room was very large and well laid out, with a kitchen, a bathroom with a jacuzzi and stunning view, two bedrooms, and a living area. We were taken straight to our room by a concierge when we checked in, which was a nice touch. The view was excellent — you could see the town centre from the room. the owners made us feel very at home, they could not do more to please us as their guests, we were treated more like family! the Japanese breakfast we courteously served, it was delicious! we could not recommend this Ryokan enough, especially with the obliging owners!

Went with the kids. The hotel offers some classes for us to learn skiing or snowboarding. Stayed couple nights. Great experience. Would go to the same hotel if we ever go to Arai.

It my first time for this area. Kusatsu onsen. So good hotel, Staff helpful. Onsen in hotel nice already. Shuttle bus service so good. It so comfortable for this trip. I booked with dinner buffet. Food is so good taste more than I thought. Overall is perfect (recommend to stay)
