"Nice and conveniently located"
The Fish Inn- Bund- is a nice hotel which is conveniently located very near exit 6 of East Nanjing Rd- line 2. The basic rooms are really basic so I'd recommend spending a bit more and upgrading. For about £120 more we stayed in a nice, big room with a very nice bathroom and a terrace.

"Large Suites in a Great Neighborhood"
I've stayed at this hotel about 20 times over the last 6 years or so. The rooms are large, even the standard room and they all have a great shower and soaking tub. I continue to stay here because I like the neighborhood, tree lined streets, you're right on Fuxing Park and walking distance to Xintandi. I like to very comfortable in my very Western room but able to walk out onto the street and get great local food and be around local people. And you get the back up of being close to Xintandi, so if you're sick of Chinese food and want a choice of Western food, you can walk a few blocks over and get. Also close to Gadu Lu which has a ton of Western choices and is less expensive and touristy than Xintandi. I enjoy walking the city and it's a great place for that, as it's central and one of the prettiest neighborhoods in the city. You right in the French Concession and can walk to the Bund or Old Town in about 20 or 25 minutes, about the same to People's Square. The downside is that the rooms are getting a bit older now, so not quite as nice as it used to be and the staff is pretty clueless. They can call you a taxi and tell the driver to get you to right terminal at the airport, but don't look to them to make any restaurant, entertainment or activity recommendations. Overall, if you're comfortable in Shanghai and want to get away from the cultural isolation of the 5 star Bund hotels, this is a perfect place.

"Convenient hotel location"
Staff are helpful and very pleasant, particularly restaurant staff who are excellent. food was very good although breakfast was a little cold at times maybe due to buffet. Communications leave a lot to be desired as I could not connect to my e-mails

"Room Review"
The room tended to be dark and needed more or better placed lighting. There were no doors separating the washroom and the lack of hooks made access to towels a bit awkward. Otherwise, the suite was spacious and nice.

"Great location, unique property "
This was a private villa before I used to walk by everyday on the way to school when I was a teenage. Now this is a unique boutique style hotel. There's a lot of beautiful detail in the architecture inside and outside. The location is very central, this is the part of the city that hasn't changed too much. There's a restaurant called "fu Ji" across the street that has delicious curry dish and authentic ice milk tea. The standard room is a bit small, washroom is clean enough, breakfast has good Chinese and western selection. The staff is friendly, the door man will call a taxi for you if needed. Overall if you are looking for a unique interesting style hotel to stay, this is a good choice. BTW, the air quality in Shanghai in November was terrible. The family mart next door has mask for sell, if you are there for more than a few days, allergy medicine and a face mask would be recommended.

"Great Hotel - get address from Hotel before you go"
Wonderful hotel, comfortable, clean - good breakfast. The address on Expedia takes you to one side of a gated complex. Taxis cannot enter the gate. We ended up having to walk about 1/2 mile to get to the hotel. Best to contact the hotel before you leave USA and ask for the hotel address for taxis AND get the address in Chinese characters - Taxi drivers do not read / speak English.

"Great Hotel, probably one of my favorites in China"
I've stayed at lot of different hotels in China and there is always somethings that don't make sense or is not up to western standards. This hotel surprised it. Rooms were clean, modern, bed was comfortable, I actually enjoyed my stay there. Few notes - There is a McDonalds, KFC, and a CarreFour super market within 5 minute walking distance from hotel - While most of the staff don't speak English, they will always find the staff member who does when you need them - Internet worked reliably 95% of the time - Breakfast is pretty descent, you can get fruits, omelets, eggs, and variety of Chinese food, tea, coffee, etc. Freshly squeezed juices are available too.

"Old French precinct"
We loved staying in this beautiful building designed by famous French architect Lafayette; it's a reminder of former, grand times. Our room was very spacious with lovely furniture and though it faced the street, no traffic sound intruded.
