"Diese Unterkunft ist nicht zu empfehlen! Wir wissen nicht wer es war, aber wir haben kein Auge zu gemacht in der Nacht, weil jemand die ganze Nacht laut gestritten und Türen zu geschlagen hat. Es hörte sich an, als ob nächstens jemand umgebracht wird.
Auch am Tag keine Ruhe, von der Klimaanlage kamen im Minutentakt Geräusche die schon fast an Folter erinnerten.
Wie diese Unterkunft überleben kann, keine Ahnung, immerhin gab es warmes Wasser."

You will feel extremely unsafe. The rooms feel like they haven't been cleaned in forever. Lighting is extremely poor. Smells bad. And the owner writes fake reviews about the property!!
All of the 5-star reviews on Google Maps are from the same person, go and check for yourself. I stayed here because of a last minute emergency, but I would've preferred to spend the night at an airport or anywhere else. "
"La struttura è elegante, ma ha un grosso problema: due ascensori minuscoli, uno non funzionante, l'altro per entrarci bisogna fare il tetris, se si ha una valigia grande si entra uno alla volta. Avevamo un appartamento al 5 piano ed una sera non ha funzionato l'unico utile. Il bagno era davvero mal organizzato , il lavandino appiccicato alla porta e gli asciugamani posti su una inutile scaletta, impedivano l'uso del bidet. Ho dovuto metterla nella doccia. Bastava un porta asciugamani da parete....
"I couldn’t contact the number on the booking confirmation, and no reply on Expedia chat! Lucky we caught the cleaner just leaving and asked how we could get in touch with the check-in staff. She was very helpful and got someone to contact me. Apparently the number I had was of someone on a day off!

"For the high price we paid, I was hoping to get a clean room.
We got only 1 towel pp, non a face towel, or a bath floor towel mate. Instead there was a plastic mate in the bath, and another plastic mate when you get out from the bath. It seems it was dirty and oily when our clean legs caused black stains on the floor.
Also the window shutter is broken.

"Dependable quality Hotel with a choice of pillow hardness (so rare in Portugal) with onsite restaurant. Service at reception v good but very slow service in otherwise quiet restaurant disappointing (25 mins to get drink is not acceptable with 5 staff and 3 tables occupied!) biggest gripe is lack of milk with tea and invisible tea-spoons. What is it with Hotels and tea spoons? "
"Locke de Santa Joana is a great spot to stay. The staff is friendly. Great decor in the lobby and in the rooms. Nice courtyard with a pool, bar and restaurant. And all in a beautiful historic building. I’ve read some reviews of people complaining about getting to their room from the lobby. We stayed in the furthest wing of the hotel. Sure, there were 2 elevator rides involved and a walk through the courtyard but the whole experience took about 60 seconds. Would definitely stay here again."
