"As a couple of busy business travelers and empty-nesters, we stay in a lot of hotels near and far, so we have a good sample set to work from when we review a property. Our stay at Hotel Lucia was ideally located within walking distance of so much of what Portland has to offer - North, South, East or West! Even though we are locals, having a base so that we could explore on foot helped us discover some new things that we usually drive right past via car. We stayed in the top floor one bedroom Gallery Suite for two nights. It had all the amenities you could ask for (except for streaming enabled TVs, but we had our own devices), views on both the courtyard and city view sides, and it was incredibly spacious. Comfortable beds, very courteous staff, and some free play pinball machines onsite make this eclectic and charming boutique hotel a winner in our books. The valet staff get a special shout out from us - we came and went frequently, and they never failed to greet us cheerfully and hold doors open for us before we could do it ourselves - so appreciated as we had packages to manage. No onsite restaurants, but absolutely surrounded by options - you won't miss them. Door Dash is super fast if you just must stay in to sit by the fireplace and admire the view. Purple umbrellas in the lobby for those wet outings. If you are on the fence, just do it!"

"Everything was very nice. The only process that we'd love to see better refined is extending a stay and credit card authorization when a third party is paying for it without the credit card physically on site. That was the only wrinkle, which involved me having to physically come down, having to place a whole nother reservation, and redoing the card keys. Note: I rented the room under my name, listing my daughter as the 2nd adult on the reservation, but because it was my card, she wasn't able to simply extend (booked through Expedia versus Hyatt direct, which may have made this element moot), I had to come to Hyatt and navigate the check out/check in on the new reservation. It would be lovely if policy would include sending the reserving party a credit card authorization form if they cannot be physically present - or simply to simplify the process. Besides that, again, everything was lovely and this is a location that we will gladly return to. "
