Expedia had never sent the reservations to the hotel. While standing in the lobby I had to go back online to Expedia and rebook the room. Luckily they had a room available. Hopefully there will only be one charge on my bill. I’ve never had this problem with you folks before

The first room that I was assigned was not ready to house a guest. The door was wide open, a was a bed on top of another bed with a large fan airing out the room. When I went back down to the front desk, the gentleman working seemed to have forgotten that the room wasn’t ready. He kindly assigned another room to me. Unfortunately, when I got to the new room, it smelled awful. The carpet was filthy, there was gunk stuck on the coffee maker, and the bedding looked questionable. I didn’t even want to remove my shoes. I went online and booked a last minute room at an inn down the road. I grabbed my things and didn’t even bother checking out or trying to get a refund. At that point I didn’t care anymore about how much the inn cost or how much I lost at the travelodge.

I travel with a special needs adult son who does not handle stairs well. I called two weeks in advance, the day after making reservations. I asked for a handicapped or ground floor room and was told this was not a problem. We'd get a ground floor room for sure. When I checked in, I was given a second floor room. The place was completely full and there were no options. Stupid me, I decided to stay and try and work with it. I entered the room and realized that housekeeping had neglected to clean the room. It was after 7:00 pm, so it wasn't like I checked in early. The bed was slept in, trash cans full, towels all over the floor. The ONLY saving grace was the one and only employee on the property. She was helpful and did her best with a mess she'd clearly been handed. She came to my room to bring clean linens and make the bed etc. She had to do this while checking in guests. Because my son doesn't handle stairs well, I left him in the room as I carried bag after bag (diapers, clothes, medications, electronics, special foods for his dietary restrictions, etc.) up to the room. On my fifth trip back to the room, the magnetic key stopped working. My son is developmentally delayed. I wasn't worried about him harming himself, but I didn't want him to be frightened or have a seizure unsupervised. I raced to the office where they fixed the key. Ran back to the room to find it still didn't work. Did that again, and it STILL didn't work, went back AGAIN - to be continued....
