I understand that this property is a budget hotel. But the problems are too great even at the low cost. Just go somewhere else! Had it not been late and raining hard, I would have demanded a refund and found another hotel.
The lobby was still pleasantly decorated for Christmas and check-in was easy and efficient. They explained that there was no breakfast due to COVID, understandable, I guess.
While the room appeared to be clean, the ugly details began to emerge. The light in the bathroom didn’t work. I called the front desk and the attendant explained how to reset the Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) next to the sink in the main room. That fixed the light and fan, but the heat lamp still wouldn’t turn on. A GFCI should not trip unless there is an electrical problem. The fact that the front desk immediately knew the problem means that they are aware and have not fixed the underlying issue.
The flush handle on the toilet was very loose, but worked. I then noticed that the cove base near the bathtub was pealing from the walls. When I turned on the water to take a shower, the tub barely drained. That was because there was a lot of hair left in the drain.
I turned down the bed and found that the bedding was clean, but stained and nearly threadbare.
In the middle of the night, the flush handle on the toilet just fell off, requiring that I remove the tank lid and manually pull the lever to flush the toilet.
Find somewhere else to stay.
