Excellent property right in the centre of Funchal. We stayed in the top floor apartment V, which had a lovely balcony that has a side view towards the see and sunshine from midday. The kitchen is full of all utensils and cleaning products. Tupperware came in handy to take on hikes with you. There are a couple of points to note. There is no lift so you need to make sure you can climb plenty of steps. The mattress is quite firm and the building carries the noise so you can hear a lot of things...

Theresa our host was so helpful. She stayed late for our late arrival. Her cooking is lovely if you want a meal in. Beautiful views of the sea from balcony. A much quieter but more beautiful part of the island than Funchal.

Great spot for visiting Madeira, lovely and tucked away in the mountains with local shops and restaurants near by. Funchal only 28 mins car journey away. Room was super clean, air conditioned, great bathroom, fridge, owner was always on hand to help if any issues.

Staff couldn't have been more helpful, super food. Excellent facilities. Would definitely recommend

Amazing Hotel with Fantastic Staff in an Amazing Location. 10/10

A tasteful blend of contemporary and traditional buildings, with our superior block room worth the extra money - larger and with a much better quality lounging area outside the patio doors. A nice, personal sized hotel as a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World group. Breakfast was intimate, uncrowded and orders of hot food came in seconds. The gardens are immaculate and there were ample staff everywhere throughout our stay attending both to maintaining the internal and external ambiance....

Its difficult to find superlatives that match the enjoyment we had at the Albatroz. Its a stunning location and everything was right from the check-in to the check-out. The staff at the Hotel have a value set and desire to provide service that is matched only by 5 star establishments, and in my estimation this certainly is a 5 star Hotel. We plan to return, and frankly cant wait to do so. Go and enjoy!!

There have been several extensions to this classic hotel built on the cliffside overlooking Funchal harbour.All tastefully done and very classy. The place to stay chosen by celebrities and royaltyas evidenced from the photos and memorabilia in one of the lounge areas. This hotel has a different restaurant for each meal as well as its own Italian restaurant with spectacular views in the grounds. The most welcoming and kind hearted host! We arrived late and she was so accomodating, great communications and made us feel at home instantly. The room was spotless and furnished with everything you would want - lovely welcome gifts also! Wish we could have stayed longer! Great location for PR1 sunrise hike the next morning. Keep an eye out for the goats!

Facilities were great with little touches like sweets on the pillow. Room had clear damage/marks on the walls not repaired and the service was mostly average with one breakfast at the buffet were we didn’t get seen to at all and had find servers ourselves. Hotel facilities and options were great.

Stunning views, gorgeous sauna, and lovely outdoor pool. Would recommend a car for exploring!

This place was incredible! Room was amazing - so spacious and comfy. Loved the bath robes! We used all 3 of the hotel’s spas with roof top hot tubs, swimming pool and sauna. Breakfast was amazing. Couldn’t recommend this place more!

Nice resort hotel in the North West of Madeira, perfectly located for the natural pools. As an added bonus you get access to unlimited free day passes into the pools that require a paid ticket. The staff were so lovely, friendly and helpful. We had a friend call ahead (unknown to us) to tell them it was our honeymoon and they gave us a free bottle of wine which was a lovely gesture. Me and my husband have stayed there for 4 nights and I can't say a single bad word about the hotel. The room was amazing, stuff very nice (we even got a packed breakfast to take away because we had to leave early!) and the view from the room's balcony is priceless. Highly recommended.

Don't go uptown to the tourist area where all the hotels are - concrete jungle! Old town is best for eateries and bars - especially the rum bar - hard to find but a wee gem. It is on the second section of the old street and has a balcony which overlooks the street - the guy there is fantastic looks like you are in his front room but it's an amazing place to sample rum - he has a massive choice.
