Peaceful, calm, excellent Service. The staff at the hotel including the owners are amazing. Super friendly, happy to help and very accommodating. Very clean rooms. Facilities were great with little touches like sweets on the pillow. Room had clear damage/marks on the walls not repaired and the service was mostly average with one breakfast at the buffet were we didn’t get seen to at all and had find servers ourselves. Hotel facilities and options were great.

Me and my husband have stayed there for 4 nights and I can't say a single bad word about the hotel. The room was amazing, stuff very nice (we even got a packed breakfast to take away because we had to leave early!) and the view from the room's balcony is priceless. Highly recommended.

Had a nice warm welcome followed by a clean, fresh and spacious double-bed room - six comfy nights sleep-lovely mattress support. Buffet breakfast was just the ticket after a quick early morning work out in their 2nd floor gym (Buffet choice: Drinks, Fruits, fried full breakfasts, cold meats, cheese & soft fresh bread, etc). Lounge an afternoon away on the sun rooftop beds (4 pairs) with shaded side-seating for the sun-shy. Just kick back, read a book and relax in peace until the sonic-pleasing...

A tasteful blend of contemporary and traditional buildings, with our superior block room worth the extra money - larger and with a much better quality lounging area outside the patio doors. A nice, personal sized hotel as a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World group. Breakfast was intimate, uncrowded and orders of hot food came in seconds. The gardens are immaculate and there were ample staff everywhere throughout our stay attending both to maintaining the internal and external ambiance....

There have been several extensions to this classic hotel built on the cliffside overlooking Funchal harbour.All tastefully done and very classy. The place to stay chosen by celebrities and royaltyas evidenced from the photos and memorabilia in one of the lounge areas. Its difficult to find superlatives that match the enjoyment we had at the Albatroz. Its a stunning location and everything was right from the check-in to the check-out. The staff at the Hotel have a value set and desire to provide service that is matched only by 5 star establishments, and in my estimation this certainly is a 5 star Hotel. We plan to return, and frankly cant wait to do so. Go and enjoy!!

Don't go uptown to the tourist area where all the hotels are - concrete jungle! Old town is best for eateries and bars - especially the rum bar - hard to find but a wee gem. We stayed at this hotel for the duration of our week in Madeira & cannot really find a fault in anything. We stayed on a 'bed & breakfast' basis which suited us well as we didn't know what we'd be doing each day as there is such a vast amount to do in Madeira. Lovely break in this beautiful Hotel not too far from the center but just far enough for a stroll in the evenings.

We really liked this hotel. We arrived before check-in time but our room was ready, clean and comfortable. Plenty of wardrobe space and drawers and lots of clothes hangers which isn't always the case. As we had left home at 3.30am we were ready for an early lunch and although the restaurant didn't open until 12.30 they were happy to serve us something at 12.10. We had a very pleasant stay in the Melia last week. The staff were friendly and very helpful Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was excellent and there was always a chef on hand to make something if it was not already on offer. The hotel is nicely situated with an indoor and an outdoor pool.
