Didn’t live up to our expectations
This was the first stop for us on a 3 week California road trip and from previous reviews we were anticipating a warm welcome with a wine and snacks reception then a hearty breakfast next morning. Sadly we were a bit disappointed. We were welcomed by the owner and had a glass of wine but then never saw her again. We were expecting a lovely breakfast but instead got a rather basic breakfast box and a pot of coffee left outside our room in the morning. As we booked believing we’d get a full breakfast (which is still what is offered on the Hotels.com listing) this was very disappointing and as it cost us more than anywhere else we stayed during the rest of the stay not great value. As there had been a period when the business was closed I had had some correspondence with Sandra who reassured me she was running again...but not that she had changed the breakfast offer. The house has lots of history and our room was comfortable but it would have been nice to be able to talk to Sandra about it. We’ve never before stayed in a b&b where there is nobody in attendance in the morning. The highlight of our trip was a visit to the Amador Brewing company with food from Katie’s country kitchen. Plymouth itself is a very small place that was mostly closed when we were there. My advice if you’re visiting the Gold Trail is stay in Sutter Creek.
