It features Pawnee tribespeople, pioneer wagons, settlers and trappers and portrays a conceptual image of the establishment of Independence. The permanent exhibition Harry S. Truman: His Life and Timespresents an overview of Truman’s childhood up until his death in 1972. Among other things, it traces his boyhood years in Independence, life on a farm in Grandville, military service and rise through the political ranks.

Learn about Truman’s involvement in events such as the bombing of Hiroshima, the Cold War and the recognition of Israel’s independence. Don’t miss the replica of the White House’s Oval Office.
