Wonderful stay here for 4 nights with husband and daughter. We had a ‘two doubles’ room, which had lovely comfortable beds and little kitchenette with full size fridge. We enjoyed a lovely complimentary breakfast each morning with fruit, pastries, bagels, yogurt and granola. Wonderful hotel in a great location. Room was spacious and clean and the staff were lovely. It would benefit from a hotel bar but we very much appreciated the bottle of wine!

My daughter and I had a trip to New York for our big birthdays, hotel was very central close to port authority, walking distance to time square and many other areas. Hotel staff made our visit special for us and are very helpful , friendly , professional and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. I would avoid 9th Avenue at night time as it didn’t feel very safe .

Rooms spotless. Lots of breakfast places near. Carnegie cafe diner near for breakfast. Central Park walkable distance. Moma near by. Broadway walking distance.

Writing update in lobby January has proved to be a great time to see NYC and Kitano has proved to be a great place to stay very happy with all aspects but did not eat in ,too much choice close by.

There is absolutely nothing bad to say about Kixby. The location is as safe as it gets,easy walking distance from Penn Station if you come in by LIRR/Airtrain from JFK(30 mins hassle free way to get into Manhattan) and the subway is 50 yards from the front door. There are the best selection of bars,restaurants and eateries within minutes of the hotel as well as Maddison Square Garden and the Empire State Building. All of the staff were friendly,helpful and informative,you get a free water...

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. A special mention goes to James, the manager, who was incredibly helpful, thoughtful, and made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. The hotel is also in a great location for Times Square, making it easy to explore the city and all the main attractions. It was also great to be able to help ourselves to coffee and snacks throughout the day, which was a lovely touch and much appreciated. Breakfast did get quite busy around 9:00 am, and the food options...

Cozy hotel, nice styling, great rooftop bar, comfy big bed. Amazing location. Would stay again. Very small rooms, so not for all people. Rooftop bar had different (less) opening hours than advertised.

An excellent place to stay, easy access to rest of Manhattan...quiet at night and clean...would highly recommend...

Such a great stay here. Right in midtown Manhattan in the heart of the action but at a really reasonable price. The room was small but immaculate. I requested a higher room with a view and the hotel did exactly that for us - the 21st floor with a beautiful view to wake up to. I would definitely recommend staying at CIVILIAN and I would definitely stay here again.

If I wrote about just how good this hotel is I'd need a lot more characters and you'd think they were paying me. I've stayed in many hotels, a considerable number having more stars than the Luma, but never have I experienced somewhere I cannot fault in any respect. The room was equipped with absolutely everything you could need (8 power sockets and 16 usb ports, 4 of each on both sides of the bed?!) it was quiet, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom spotless and there was a turndown service...

Good location

We arrived a little after 3pm, and had a lovely greeting from staff, but our room wasn’t ready so we had to wait. We booked and paid through Expedia… an Empire via room with living space. Please note that the hotel does not offer this type of room. None of their Empire View rooms have the separate living room area. The Empire view rooms do give a great view of the Empire State Building but their ‘living room’ is a tiny space with a chaise and a TV. Management were excellent with us and moved us...

Such a well situated hotel slap bang in the middle of Manhattan, walking distance to most sightseeing/tourist hubs. Room was fantastic, spacious, tea/coffee making machine, fridge which was a bonus, would 100% stay here again. 5*

The hotel itself is clean and centrally located for NYC tourism in Times Sq. the staff are great, breakfast included was a good start to each day and the price we got through Expedia was a bargain. Be warned that there is a migrant shelter directly opposite the hotel which can be intimidating as large groups hang around outside - the hotel have a regular security guard and the NYPD are outside the shelter all the time.

It was just as I expected. It was not noisy at all (being so close to Times Square). I booked a room with a bunk bed and it was as small as shown in the pictures so definitely as expected. Stay was comfortable.
