Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Air was ice cold. I have to say though I'm 6foot and it was a brisk 15 min walk from airport. If you decide to walk look for the overt the bridge pedestrian walk instead of trying to walk around the highway like i did lol.

About Don Muang Airport

Don Muang Airport was the main domestic and international airport in Thailand, and one of the busiest transport hubs in Asia. However, since the construction of Suvarnabhumi International Airport in 2006, Don Muang is now only used for some domestic flights and chartered air carriers. Following the Thai Airways shift to Suvarnabhumi, Don Muang’s nearby hotels also changed from high-end international chains to inexpensive three-star inns. Nevertheless, there are still plenty of comfortable accommodation options available.

Don’t Miss

Don Muang doesn’t welcome as many tourists as it used to, but there are still some interesting things to do when visiting here. The Royal Thai Air Force Museum is close to the sixth wing of Don Muang’s passenger terminal. Aircraft enthusiasts and history buffs will fall in love with this museum, as it contains dozens of fascinating war-time aircraft, not to mention a historical display of Thai Airways planes. Some of the military planes on show include the Grumman F8F Bearcat and the British-built Supermarine Spitfire. One of the most interesting golf courses in Thailand is the Kantarat Golf Course. It includes 18 holes of greens, bunkers and fairways, but what makes this course so unique is that it is located between the two runways of Don Muang Airport. It’s operated by the Thailand Military, but still open to the public. While inside Don Muang Airport, visitors should head to the lookout platforms. Here, great views of aircraft arriving and departing are available. Even though there is more variety at Suvarnabhumi, Don Muang is still a great place for aircraft enthusiasts.

Restaurants and Bars

Don Muang still features plenty of restaurants and cafés, so passengers and guests have a range of choices. The public area boasts several nice eateries which include Silom Village and the popular Meefann restaurants. Several fast-food chains and Western sit-down restaurants are also located in the lounges for both domestic and international departures. Some of the restaurants serve alcoholic drinks. There are plenty of coffee venues inside the airport though.

Shopping

The airport is still an international port, so there is duty-free shopping located in the departure concourse. Visitors can find everything from clothes, to alcohol, to perfumes at cheaper prices here. Guests can also find regular retail outlets which sell clothes, accessories and a range of other items.
