"The main hotel is characterful and pleasant. I found my room in one of the newer blocks to be noisy, more so when a table tennis table was erected under my window. The spa was disappointing, particularly when compared to a MacDonald Spa I am a previous member of. The pool and steam room are shedding tiles in large patches, some lying loose in the bottom of the pool. The Spa had no hot water for showering which rather spoiled my spa day. All staff were pleasant and helpful."

"Booked late in the day as Wife needed to be at QE Hospital for 7am. Easy walk from university station, though not well signed, even when you are standing outside it. Receptionist was nice, smiley and efficient. Room was basic but comfortable. Bed was great. Shower was great. Only there one night but on that night the hotel seemed very peaceful. Just a gentle buzz in the public areas. Restaurant wasn't so good. They forgot my drink, gave the wife a dirty glass, some of the food was nice some was diabolical. Chicken schnitzel, I’m looking at you. Overall very good.would stay again."

"It's obvious the Hotel was undergoing renovations. When we arrived, it wasn't too obvious where the reception was, which was just a desk in the bar area. Our room was on the 1st floor, when coming out of the lift on that floor a room map would have been really useful. We (and another couple who arrived around the same time) were wondering around like lost souls trying to find our allotted room. The room itself was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Though there was no evacuation map on the back of the door (though when one stepped into the corridor, the route to safety was obvious). Our sleep was good. One last observation, when we left our room in the morning. We were loaded with a suitcase and several pieces of luggage. When going through a fire door on the way back to reception. My wife opened the door and held it open for me to follow, only to trip up on a single step down of about 10 cm height. My wife stumbled but didn't fall. A notice on the proceeding fire door would have alerted her to the step. Better signage would have helped. Having said that, we enjoyed our stay."

"The staff were kind and helpful. There were extra charges for the car park although this was taken off when we complained. The whirlpool was not working. It did not feel good value for money."

"I think its very over priced for what it is. Feels like the rooms need an update. There was no dressing table i had to sit on the floor to use the wardrobe mirror. Pillows too soft. Food in the james martin grill was poor very disappointing. Felt a bit let down as it was a treat for my husbands birthday and our anniversary. "
