Badhoevedorp Trip

I had stayed in a Social Hub in Madrid and found it to be an excellent alternative to main stream hotels. The one in Amsterdam was not the case. The location for this hotel is not very good. We were assigned a handicap accessible room without requiring nor requesting one. They did change our room but unfortunately the air conditioning in that room did not work. When I enquired at the desk I was told that none of the rooms had air conditioning because it was illegal in Europe to have AC. This is of course false. The rooms were climate controlled except our room was about 25-28 degrees even though the thermostat was set to 18. They said they would send someone but never did. We survived by opening the window and luckily the fall weather kept the room comfortable for sleeping. We did not spend any daytime hours in the room. Overall, for the money we paid, we could have had a much better hotel room, closer to the city centre and in a safer, more friendlier area. I do not recommend staying at this location.

I relied on Chat GPT for my pick of a hotel in Amsterdam and it was spot on! It’s an adorable boutique hotel on the canal and right in the heart of all the action. It was a short walk to the Anne Frank house and the 9s shopping district. Our room was beautifully decorated with a very modern bathroom. The lobby and adjoining sitting rooms were warm and welcoming! Our room faced the canal which was exactly what I wanted. It was the perfect spot to end our 14 day trip to Norway before we flew home!

Nice clean room. Unable to control the temperature and it was very warm in the room, even when we opened the window at night (stayed in October). We asked the desk and they said there was nothing they could do and told us changing rooms wouldn’t be any different. Close to the bus and train station made it easy to get around. Decent breakfast spot nearby. Good option for a couple nights to avoid paying downtown prices.

Great hotel & location. Don’t stay on street side, very loud at night due to people on streets and the eateries. Big windows in rooms provide view but not noise protection.
