AMAZING. I (18F) and my friend (18F) traveled to Playa Del Carmen from March 31 to April 5, and we stayed at Hotel Lunata from April 1 to April 5. We had our apprehensions about staying in Cancun because of safety concerns as young travelers. However, at Hotel Lunata, we felt so safe. The staff truly cared about our experience. They recommended a safe bank to go so we wouldn’t get scammed, and allowed us to drop our key off at the front desk every time we left the hotel. This ensured we would not lose the key and could go to the beach without worrying it would be stolen. And we were given free towels for the beach as well. Every night at 11pm, they close the gate to Hotel Lunata so it feels even safer. The rooms were so clean, and the shower was so cute. We also had a street view which was a fun time. There was also a safe where we left our passports and other valuables, and clean, cold drinking water on every floor. I only went to the complimentary breakfast once, but the toast, jam, cereal, and coffee served was all absolutely delicious. Safety aside, the actual hotel itself was gorgeous and affordable and just a walk away from the beach. It honestly felt magical. And there are so many good restaurants nearby which were decently affordable. Overall, our experience was 10x better because of the caring staff at Hotel Lunata, and if we ever come back to Playa del Carmen, I refuse to stay anywhere else. I highly recommend this beautiful hotel.

Room was clean and spacious. However, there is no lift but lots of narrow stairs. If you have bad back or lots of stuff, not right for you. Also, noise is another level. It feels like ‘ok, I can sleep in this level of noise’ before 10pm but after that, seems like whole street become a club till 3am. Because of base sound, ear plugs don’t really help. If you will be out there until 3am, it’s really good location. Easy to get anywhere, lots of bars and restaurant around. But if you have bad jet lag like us, it can ruin your next day schedule. Accept the noise and stairs, the hotel is lovely. Affordable price, good room size, clean, good water pressure and easy to go all the places.

The property and room were absolutely lovely. Our room had a balcony that overlooked the interior courtyard where we sat with morning coffee and watched the birds in the surrounding treetops and watched the sun go down in the evening. It is a charming hotel in an ideal location for Playa's restaurant/beach scene and easy access to the ferry to Cozumel. We loved our stay and would highly it.

We really enjoyed our time at the hotel Lunata. The staff were awesome. I would give them a higher rating than excellent if I could. They made the trip easier and helped arrange transport and even helped us find a hotel in Cancun when our flight was cancelled. The hotel grounds are beautiful and quiet, a nice repreive from the busy Quinta Avenue that you walk in off of. The rooms are unique and very well done in a Spanish style. There are no shortage of restaurants and shops to shop at and the ocean is a quick two minute walk from the front steps. Very convenient location. Will definately stay there again!

Authentic Spanish architecture, quite courtyard just within the walls of main 5th street of playa Del Carmen. Great A/C , big balcony, large shower with lots of water pressure. Very secure, late night gates are locked to property. Just out side your door is everything, beach 1 block, Central Park, Public transportation, and restaurants for everyone’s liking. Definitely was an excellent choice for our vacation and will likely return in the near future.

This hotel is located in a great area, right in the middle of 5th Avenue, which allows you to walk to many places like restaurants shops etc. Staff members were very nice and actually started conversations several times which made me feel very welcome. They offered cleaning service. However, it wasn't always done even when I expressed my desire to receive the service or utilized the Sin 4 the door. They offer a basic breakfast which is great for when you have to leave for a tour right after. This place may not be for those who are looking for a quiet hotel. Since it's located right in the middle of a very busy street. You will definitely find a lot of noise until late hours. You have several clubs and bars around that operate past midnight. Great if you like night life but not the best if you want to mostly rest. Overall, this is a great option that has a great location and offers very cozy rooms!

Lunata is boutique and extremely charming. While on the property you almost feel like you are in Old San Juan or even Cuba. The vibe and the staff are incredible! If you are a light sleeper or looking for total quiet, Calle Quinta will present a challenge as it’s fairly loud after hours.

Great location! Right off Quinta Ave and less than a 2 minute walk from the beach. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. There is a nightclub a few feet away so it can be noisy. However, my husband and I did not mind.

This is a wonderful property, a little oasis in the middle of all the commercialism of 5th Ave. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. The only negative would be for anyone who has any kind of issue with stairs as all the rooms are walk up and the stairs are quite steep. Otherwise really beautiful!!!

Hotel Lunata is a super cute & charming hotel right in the middle of everything in downtown Playa del Carmen. It's surrounded by lots of restaurant options and the beach is steps away. Hotel Lunata has the nicest hotel staff I've ever met , they helped us book our visit to Xcaret, Xplor and Xel-ha . I traveled with my sister and nephew and we all enjoyed the stay. Our room faced the backyard/courtyard of the hotel so it was really quiet we didn't experience any noise from 5th avenue which was surrounded by people all the time. I have to mention the hotel is very reasonably priced and can't leave out I loved the water pressure in the shower haha can't leave that out that a plus for me ! after long day at the parks we visited a hot shower at the hotel was the best . I will definitely recommend Hotel Lunata and I will stay here again when I visit Playa del Carmen .

We really can't say enough good things about Hotel Lunata. My entire family had a great experience. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are large with nice balconies and big closets. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for walking to beaches and restaurants. We loved it and hope to be back soon!

On 5th Ave which is a busy and a lively street.The interiors are devoted to mexican tradition with mix of colors. At the reception 'Michele' waited late for my checkin and helped communicate to the parking folks due to language barrier. She also helped for any information related to beaches, restaurant and tourist spots.Carmen at the kitchen helped with the snacks even after the breakfast hours. Big shout out to Mariana and Fidel for taking good care with room service and baggage handling. The room has a good bed, shower with hot water. Safety/Security is 10/10. Easy to stroll around the 5th Ave, walk to nearby beach, have drinks, deserts like marquesitas, fresh juices etc. Cons: My room was located facing the 5th Ave so the noise in night is there till 3am. If you are light sleeper then would recommend to book room facing the garden.

Charming boutique hotel in the heart of Playa del Carmen. What a hidden gem of an oasis off the busy 5th st. Our room was gorgeous with simple but interesting details. Super clean. Stunning shower with beautiful Mexican tile. Michele at the front desk was an absolute joy to talk with. The hammocks in the back lawn were so relaxing. Steps away from bars, restaurants, shops and the beach but we felt so secluded and comforted within the walls of this peaceful palace. Our room was not loud at all from club noise. Only downside is the beds are a bit too hard for my taste. But great for some! Absolutely love this hotel.

The property is small and quaint. The rooms are beautiful, we stayed in Calisto. They are traditional terra cotta and tiles and natural stones in the floor, and wood beams on the ceilings. Beautiful traditional linens and plenty of space. The bathrooms are quite lovely and inviting, the shower was amazing!

A delightful little spot right on 5th Avenue. Staff was always friendly and helpful. Beautiful rooms and courtyard in the back. They even had an adorable cat that hung out on the grounds. A few things to note: 1) since it's on 5th avenue, expect quite a bit of noise until late hours. There was also construction being done next door while I was there. 2) It's all stairs. No elevator. If you can't handle walking 1-3 flights of stairs, this spot is not for you. 3) No ceiling fans. Not crucial but it would have helped with the heat. Overall, a lovely place. Exceptional staff,

Great location, it definitely is a bit noisy due to the bustle and people traffic near the clubs. There was construction next door during our stay and it was a bit loud but it’s not the hotel’s fault. Music seem to end around 2-3am but overall I’d stay here again. Very cute and convenient location with extremely friendly staff.
