Arrived at night, looked beautiful all lite up! Lobby also impressive, beautiful bar/lounge area, also loved pool area. Complimentary smores every night! Wine tasting in lobby early evening also a hit. Great rooms. Loved the shower, unique feature!! Negatives, must valet park, $30 a night!! Adds up after 3 plus days. Always felt parking should be a given when staying at a hotel. Staff always super friendly. Made you feel really welcome. However, after a while started to feel like tip expected every time interacted with staff. Other then parking and possible tip issue one of the best stays we enjoyed in Southern California
Overall this place is nice. We returned here for our 10th wedding anniversary. Place has been upgraded since we were last here which is nice. The only problem I had was that there is 15 dollar a night parking fee. I don't mind the fee but was not informed about this at time of booking. Just caught off guard by this information.
We stayed for two nights, the continental breakfast was good. The room is relatively dated but it was clean, bed was comfortable, shower was good, and having an in room safe is an added bonus. The woman at reception was lovely and always very helpful. We went to the Mexican restaurant across the road for tea one night, that was really yum and service was prompt and friendly. It's an easy stroll to the shops in La Jolla or to the beach.
We had a bottom corner unit, you could hear people walking around upstairs but it didn't bother us as they didn't stay up late.

Great views! Torrey Pines hiking trails are walking distance! Awesome basketball and tennis court to enjoy! Very clean pool and jacuzzi. Fitness center has amazing amenities and lots of workout space! Lots of machines and weight options. The gardens in the hotel are amazing for a night walk around the hotel. Amazing views and scenery.
They were doing some remodeling while I was there. It was nice to see that they chose to remodel before the property looked old and outdated (not waiting too long as many other hotels do). The stay was pleasant, glad to see they added a hot breakfast buffet with eggs, sausage, pancakes and such so you had the option of not waiting in the always long made to order line and could still get a hot food. My only suggestions would be- get better elevators, really this is the third time I've been there this year and every time at least one elevator was not working, and provide free internet- EVERYONE else does. But overall, great experience.
Spanish for “The Jewel,” La Jolla is 13 miles north of downtown San Diego. One of the country’s most affluent communities, La Jolla is known for its fine homes, wonderful beaches, wonderful restaurants, and stunning natural scenery. It is home to the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and the Stephen Birch Aquarium and Museum.
