"The heart of Istanbul and a real gem."
The TRYP hotel appears to be a relative new comer, but is perfectly located between Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar, The Topkapi Palace and other grand mosques on the scale of St Paul's in London. Restaurants catering to all tastes surround TRYP and countless shopping malls and boutique stores are all within walking distance. My room had a very smart, professional feel with the usual specifications and kit. For those who like gadgets the shower is a welcome surprise and the double bed is very comfortable. I have given TRYP a 5/5 rating due to it's location, helpful staff and general comfort.

"outstanding hotel and exceptional service"
Stayed in the hotel for 7 days. The room has everything you would want. Free WiFi, complimentary water bottles, tea and coffee. Hotel is very clean, the free breakfast is exceptional. But what made the experience so memorable is that all the staff were so welcoming, always ready to help and make sure each guests needs are taken care of, effieciently and effectively. Me and my wife would like to thank all the staff(Vault Karakoy Hotel) for making our first trip to Istanbul so memorable.Bravo! ....We will definitely see you again.

"Suitable hotel for everyone"
We stayed from 23 Aug 2014 to 30th Aug. Firstly the location was excellent. It is in the old town in the European side. It was near to main attraction and historical places such as Topkapi, Blue Mosque, Aye Sofia, Grand Bazar, ..... It was very accessible to Tramcar which take you to many places very fast. It is near to Sirkeci transport station. It was surrounded with a lot of restaurant and cafes. The hotel itself was modern, clean with friendly and helpful staff specially the manager was very polite and welcoming. To have a kettle with tea in the room was very nice and helpful The hotel is highly recommended.

This hotel is amazing. The only one bad thing about it is that you do not want to leave. They have superior facilities, serives, food, staff, concierge, everything we needed and beyond. We are excited to repeat our visit again.

"Excellent Hotel.Quiet whisper from Blue Mosque etc"
Contemp renovation. Excellent layout. Capped by the BEST open (and glassed) Rooftop area in Sultanamhet for breakfast and dinner...whilst gazing at three land-marks (blue mosque. aya sofya. topkapi) and two waterways (borsphorus and halic) Think armani tones and mod cons. With grrrrt staff. Good value. Definitely a sought after Boutique Hotel, for experienced travellers. Would suggest using hotels airport p/up service...as (our) taxi experiences in Istanbul were daunting. (Yep ! got caught with the "long route" "$100 bill" scam) Thankfully mini-tram only a hop an skip away (end of v.quiet street) which commuted between main tourist venues. Also buses v. user friendly. If you buy an "Insight's" Explore Istanbul Tour Guide, it nominates what (buses/ metro) to catch. Do try-out the Tuyrol Ferries plying up an down the Waterways. (left hand side of Galata Bridge) Same experience as Touristic Ferries ... for a lot $less. And catch a local ferry (so you can jump on an off) ... Bebek and Arnavutkoy ("Any" Bar/ Restaurant) (or a water-view food-choice) will reboot you after a long day sight seeing.

    Pocket Guide: Istanbul

    A tale of two continents

Istanbul is the only metropolis in the world that lies on two continents. With one foot in Europe and the other in Asia, it's no wonder the city is so cosmopolitan and culturally diverse. As the former capital of the Roman, Byzantine, Latin, and Ottoman Empires, Istanbul has an expansive history that spans many centuries. Throughout its different incarnations, Istanbul has been called both Byzantium and Constantinople. Whichever name you know it by, Istanbul is simply incredible.

While many of the most visited sightseeing attractions reside on the European side of Istanbul, including the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofya, and Topkapi Palace, the more residential Asian (or Anatolian) side also has its own unique charms. Be sure to explore the beauty of both sides to make your trip to Istanbul complete.

From the Blue Mosque to the Grand Bazaar

One of Istanbul's nicknames is the 'the city on seven hills.' Like Rome, the Istanbul of antiquity was built on seven hills, each with religious monuments, in both the Byzantine and Ottoman periods.

Today you will still find many stunning sights on these hills. Topkapi Palace was the former royal residence of the Ottoman sultans. Set by the sea and overlooking the Golden Horn, today's Topkapi Palace is open to the public as a museum, with four primary courtyards and a wealth of treasures. Wander through leafy gardens and airy libraries, an imperial harem, and impressive gilded pavilions.

Head for another hill and the Grand Bazaar awaits you. One of the largest covered markets in the world, featuring more than 6,000 stalls, the Grand Bazaar is a mecca for shoppers. Jewelry, spices, carpets, and pottery combine to create a seemingly endless range of tempting items. Test your bargaining skills or just enjoy a stroll around the structure itself, which seems almost like a palace.

Side by side are two other must-see Istanbul sights. The beautiful mosaics and massive dome of the 1400-year old Aya Sofya leave visitors mesmerized. Equally extravagant is the working Blue Mosque whose six slender minarets are one of the most famous components of Istanbul's skyline.

    Illuminated Istanbul

Istanbul is one of the oldest cities in the world and with such a long and rich legacy it would be easy to tour only the city's historical wonders. However, present-day Istanbul is one of the most vibrant, sophisticated, and cosmopolitan places on earth and no visit would be complete without experiencing what the modern city has to offer. An evening out could include cuisine from all corners of the world (though be sure to try the sumptuous mezzes and kebabs), cocktails at an elegant bar on the Bosphorus, and clubbing until dawn. Istanbul at night is a beautiful sight.

Take some time for leisure, too, like a traditional Turkish bath or a cruise down the Bosphorus Strait. One visit to Istanbul could never suffice and how could it? There are two continents to explore! So slow down and sip some fragrant mint tea, while you plan your return visit.
