"Great hotel with bags of character"
Very nice old Palazzio , we had a huge suite overlooking the canal, very clean and full of antiques. This is not a uniform type chain hotel, but a real feel of Venice. The staff were very helpful. Be aware if you are at the back the bells from San Francesca della Vigna ring half hourly from 6:30am to 11. They did not disturb us and the church is very interesting and beautiful , get in early and you'll bee the only people in. The hotel is located in Castello , walking times - 5 minutes from Ospedale water bus stop( for airport boats) , 10 minutes from San Marco, 15 from Rialto, 5 from Arsenale. There is a small supermarket on the street and a wine shop, with cheap decent local wine available by the litre.

Beautiful small, boutique hotel on the lagoon, only a five-minute walk from St. Mark's. The staff was so helpful with information, mapping out directions, and making reservations for us non-Italian speakers! The continental breakfast was excellent, and served in a lovely small dining room. Our room, although small like many in Europe, was very comfortable. Highly recommend Venice off-season (we went in early December). There are so many fewer tourists, and temperatures are still in the high 40's. Beautiful early winter light in an unforgettable city!

"Perfect Location St Mark's Square & The Rialto"
Our first impression as we came into view of The Ruzzini Palace was a stunning building in a beautiful square. This impression was carried on as we entered the beautiful reception area. Immediately we were greeted by extremely friendly, efficient, pleasant and helpful staff. Our check in was smooth and we were soon escorted to our room. The room was beautiful, with sumptious furnighsings and little touches. Everything was spotless and the bathroom tiled floor to ceiling in travatine with marble tops to the bath and basin area. Toiletries complimentary and even a hygenically sealed dispoable razor was provided. Air con and mini bar, all the extras you would expect in a 4 star hotel. The hotel was spotless throughout and every room or corridor well lit and beautifully appointed. Great throught had obviously been put into the decoration of the hotel. These high standards were reflected throughout the hotel, it's staff and food served. Breakfast, continental style was plentiful and a large variety included hot bacon and scrambled eggs, different hot side dishes (eg aubergines, baked tomato), cold meats, mozzerella, cereals, juices, pancakes, bread, cakes and pastries, fruit salad and on and on ..... Even a bottle of chilled prosecco was always availabe for a glass with your breakfast (still complimentary!). We can not praise the staff highly enough for all their attention to detail. All the

"Excellent position"
This was a lovely little hotel in a brilliant position close to st marks square and right by the landing point from the water bus from the airport so easy with luggage. The room was smallish but very well appointed with everything you would need. The breakfast buffet was more than adequate. All the staff were extremely helpful.

"Lovely Hotel"
We were in Venice from the 10th to 12th March 2014. I found this hotel online and the rooms looked really nice from the photos. I've not been to Venice before and I was pleasantly surprised how lovely they were. The staff were very helpful and the main hotel where you had your breakfast was clean and inviting. These rooms are separate to the main hotel and are literally 30 seconds away. There is a small supermarket opposite, so keep your windows shut at night unless you want to get woken up early with the deliveries, although this isn't really a problem. I would definitely come back to this hotel and recommend it for a short city break. The breakfast had the normal cold ham, cheese, fresh fruit, coffees and juice, lots of croissants and various cakes, as well as hot scrambled eggs, sausages and bubble and squeak fritters which was a great way to set you up for the day.

    Pocket Guide: Venice Castello Hotels

Bordering San Marco and the Rialto and stretching east to some of Venice's quietest greenest parts, Castello is the city's most varied 'sestiere'. Its most famous aspect is the Riva degli Schiavoni waterfront next to the Bridge of Sighs, with picture-postcard views onto the lagoon. Yet a few yards from the tourist hoards, the backstreets are quiet and typically Venetian. There are many outstanding churches and art collections in this area.
