Checked in mid evening and was cold outside. Was informed at check in that the team had been to my room and closed the curtains and put the heating on so it was not cold. Wow now that’s some check in service

Lovely one night stay. The Sunday lunch was delicious, the room was lovely with a huge round bath. Staff were all helpful and friendly. Nice breakfast. I'm sure we'll return.

The hotel is located very close to the A19 near to Yarm, however it is located in the beautiful and tranquil grounds which enjoy stunning views of the Cleveland Hills with only a very low level of noise drifting up from the A19. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout. We were made to feel both very welcome and comfortable with nothing being a problem. I never sleep well on the first night away in a hotel, but I slept like a baby here. I found everything to be clean, well laid out and comfortable. The owners were warm and amiable when I arrived, and I really appreciated the laid back approach to breakfast and check-out. If I'm ever in the area again I'll be sure to look them back up.

This place is a HUGE hidden gem! From start to finish, the service, staff, spa, value for money, everything was fantastic! We have stayed in many many hotels in the UK and this hotel has to be our favourite. The secret garden spa for an extra £25pp is worth every penny! We stayed in Tiplady 4 and it was perfect sitting outside as it was south facing so ordered a bottle of wine and nibbles before going to Nu Sana for an evening meal. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay in this beautiful boutique hotel. We booked the room overlooking the Cathedral which was stunning. The room was really large and immaculately designed. The gentleman who checked us in was so friendly and helpful. The walk was no more than 10 minutes to the centre. We were so impressed with this hotel and Durham we would definitely come back.

Awesome guest house. I travel for work and this is one guest house I'll be booking again for myself outside of work.

We stayed here to watch the Tour de Yorkshire the hotel staff were lovely, breakfast cooked to order alongside the buffet. The only downside was the bed was smaller than we are used to so sleep was difficult. (Room19) maybe ask for a larger bed if you are a couple! However we had a fabulous break.

Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was great with a huge choice of options.
