I had to use a towel on the bottom sheet and slept in my clothes. I booked for two nights and stayed one night and checked out. The location was nice very close to the beach and local restaurants. "The property was not actually at the beach. There was construction going on at the back. Water in the pool was stagnant and wasn’t being filtered. And there was a very bad smell in the room. Overall it was not a pleasant experience. The only only thong i liked is the staff."

"A nice break from a very busy Varkala. Best if you have transportation. The natural setting is calm, and it's worth exploring the beach across the waterway, accessible via kayak or 2km walk."

"Really sweet spot just off the beach up a commerce alley. Jishnu the host was very nice and helpful with getting comfortable. Hot shower if you want it - but I’ve learned to love taking cold showers here - and the bathroom was perfectly clean and well appointed. I will be back here at the Gypsy next year for sure."

"Small frugal hotel with rooms precisely on the edge of the Varkala cliff, Located on south beach, away from the next of hotels of north beach. Walks to the south and fishing boats or the north and the Varkala nest of hotels. Two great little cafes nearby - one on the property and one a short walk south."

"Excellent atmosphere and vibes! Staff is always with a smile and very happy to work. It’s a shame I had planned to move elsewhere or I would have happily stayed at this property. P.s as a foreigner here you can apply for UPI the only way to pay with your card all across India"
