"This was our first time staying at a Royal Sonesta. Our first impression was not good because staff checking customers in was most unhelpful and provided no information. I paid extra for a “corner room” and the pictures on the website show windows….I got the view of an ugly wall. I inquired about a high floor and was told that ‘the room they gave me was all they had left’ which I find very hard to believe because the hotel and parking garage were quite empty. I paid extra for parking and the breakfast buffet and received no information about either. I messaged the hotel and got a very friendly call from management that gave me what I needed and even offered a perk which was very kind but we weren’t looking for anything other than details of our stay so we didn’t partake in the offer but it was a very nice gesture. The hallway outside our door was very dirty. The room itself was clean enough but the air never got cooler than 70° and we sleep with it much cooler than that at night so we were hot and uncomfortable. The best thing about the stay was the breakfast. Not only was the food great, the staff was FANTASTIC! They were very friendly and extremely accommodating. Our waitress was Alma A and she was the best! Overall, I’d say the stay was just “ok” but I had high hopes of it being a new place that we’d want to return to. We may return for the breakfast but probably not for another nights stay. "

"The Valencia was the perfect river walk hotel,...the staff was friendly and helpful, the room clean and very spacious, the architecture beautiful, it was close to all the amenities And it was reasonably priced. "

"Stayed 3 nights and 2 days in a row after being out. We came back to a humid ass room cuz something breaker tripped on the AC. Maintenance guy was nice n polite but the fact that we had the issue more than once shows that repairing issue was not a priority. Called the front desk at least 3x the 2nd time and not even told I was being placed on hold but instead placed directly on hold. A simple, "hello, can I place you on hold?" Would have been nice. By the time I made it down stairs to tell them the girl at front desk was like, "are you here about the AC issue? Im sorry I was on the phone with a customer" When booking, room appeared larger and could've sworn it said it came with a couch. Hotel/room is very outdated and not maintained very well. Soap dispensers held up in shower by double side tape and towel rack holding on barely and exposing screws. Fridge smelled horrible, (it was clean) but smelled like somebody left lunch meat in there for days. (Simple fix, baking soda box) to absorb the fowl odors. I hope this actually reaches somebody who will actually read n prioritize the customer."

"3 Emails sent some in advance leading to my arrival, none answered. Menger Site, Facebook, and Hotels.com, and stopped by the desk to try to achieve the best room at the best rate I could for something potentially a bit more. Instead one read message not responded to, the other two no response and the desk when I arrived no help. Hotel is nice and a great historical beauty. The grounds were nice and kept well, pool was very nice , didn't seem heated so very chilly, valet was prompt courteous, helpful and speedy. Shops that rent on the outer parts of the hotel were nice and people nice there too. Great area to be convenient and price was very good. They claim to have a great rate with extra perks if booking through hotel and that was not the best deal and the one with the perk was significantly higher so they must really like their secondary market sellers better than giving the customer a deal. No receipt printed at check out due to bad printer and the promise of the emailed receipt never arrived. It was pay at the hotel and not convinced I was not overcharged. I may return but the ways to communicate with the hotel did fail miserably and if I had the time I would have called. The trip was enjoyable, but a room next to the elevator couldn't have been worse with the thin walls. The view was to a gravel roof with a stretch I could see the courtyard. Others parise them but for a hotel with this rating I feel the accomodations I asked and was will to pay and upcharge were ignored"
