The Island Resort at Fort Walton Beach

6/10 Okay

"The best parts were definitely the pool and the beach. The pool area is very unique, fun, and one of the nicest features of the resort. The beach itself was also beautiful and clean. The location gives good access to the city and nearby attractions. However, the cleanliness of the room was terrible. The mattress sheets had stains and marks on them, and the towels were also dirty and stained. I have stayed in many hotels and have never seen a room in this condition before. Another issue was security and crowd control around the beach and pool area. I understand the beach is public, but it felt like anyone could freely walk into the hotel property and use the facilities. I saw many people coming in from outside and using the pool and beach access without any checks, security, or locked access points. The room view was nice, but there was also a lot of noise during the stay. Overall, I would only give this hotel 2 stars because of the amazing pool and convenient location, but the cleanliness issues were very disappointing."

"This is one of the BEST resorts I've ever stayed. We arrived early, about 11 a.m., and we were able to get our parking pass and pool pass and able to enjoy ALL amenities until our room was ready. The bar, pool and restaurant were all on point. Very Clean and staff was "Chick-fil-A" Happy Attitude and Helpful in EVEY way. Definitely stay here again in the near future."

"When we arrived, we were able to check in early; which was nice. Had a Jr. Suite. It was Memorial day weekend so we paid a lot more than it was worth. We Got to our room, the door stuck and was difficult to push open. The room was about 700 sq ft. Unfortunately, the TV in the living area didn't work. The carpet was a bit sticky. Halfway through our stay, the lights in the kitchenette area stopped working. I understand people love their pets and it's great that hotels recognize it; however, it's my opinion that people with pets should be housed in a specific part of the hotel. The beach access was good. The pool was also good but there was so many people the water was rather cloudy most of the time. Being that it is a Hilton hotel and rated "excellent" you'd expect the rooms to live up to the lobby area and be really nice. I was a little disappointed because we spent a hefty sum and felt like everything was overpriced, everywhere. They didn't even provide a bottle of water. The parking lot was small and seemed quite cramped. One would think parking would not cost $15 per night when you pay so much to stay. There certainly wasn't space for the number of rooms. Other then the negative, we still had a nice time with family."

"The staff at the front desk was NOT friendly or accommodating but the cleaning staff were very nice and friendly. There were two laundry rooms in my building and BOTH were out of service. We had to walk two buildings over. We had the give view suite so we had a lotWe stayed 4 nights and the suite with kitchen. The first few nights seemed fine but we saw small roaches the 3rd night - but they did send someone to spray immediately. What saved the entire trip was the amazing view and literally steps to the beach."

"I stayed for two nights. The hotel, room and pool area was clean. Most of the Staff was friendly and kind. The only thing that I didn’t like is that house skipping didn’t clean and skipped our room, didn’t even leave new towels. Other than that our stay was pretty good."

"We stayed two nights and they have everything you need right at the resort. We did not leave until check out. They have a nice restaurant, ice cream bar was amazing. Pool side bar and waiter that will come to you. Enjoyed the beach. Pool was very busy because it was a holiday weekend. Overall a nice stay."
