The rooms are a little tired which is unfortunate because the grounds and the lobby are beautiful. We come to SD a few times a year and I have been eyeing this place but they have never had availability. We wouldn't stay here again. The employees are friendly but they start early in the morning and roll their carts and equipment on the walkways and talk. Glad they are happy but the sound travels up to the rooms. They should work with their staff about quiet times. Location is great.

The resort itself is gorgeous and feel like a tropical getaway but the rooms, on the other hand, need to be completely renovated and deep cleaned. We were assigned to a room that had stains all over the walls, ceiling and flooring and the lighting fixtures were collecting a layer of dust so thick that I don’t think the rooms had been touched in years. When we noticed the state of the room, we spoke with a lovely woman at the front desk who upgraded us (at no charge) to a newly renovated room that was night and day in comparison to the first. This room was nicer but there was an odd sewage smell coming from one of the sinks which inhibited us from using 1/2 of the sinks we had in the room. I felt a bit misled by the 4 star rating and room rate after stepping foot into the tower building but will say that the staff was incredibly kind and accommodating. If it weren’t for them, I would have found a new hotel nearby and requested a refund due to the state of the room(s). This hotel really shouldn’t be $250-350 /night given it’s current state.
