"Best thing about the hotel was that the front desk staff member was nice. The hotel is in poor shape and the reviews and ratings are misleading imo. The room smelled mildewy, the bathroom had mold and a strong smell, the bedding was stained (altho appeared washed) and the sound traveled so that every time a person went in or out of their rooms the doors slammed and woke us up. Our room door was hard to open and the windows ce machine was broken and no vending machines worked."

"Overall, my room was clean and I appreciated how big the bathroom was and well lit for a single king room. Staff was very helpful and parking was convenient."

"I had a paid reservation two weeks in advance of my arrival at the hotel. When I did arrive yesterday, I was told that my room was sold and not available. I was further told that it was graduation and first come first serve. Having a paid reservation at this hotel means nothing. I can neither say the hotel was good bad clean or dirty but what I can’t say is that it was ridiculous to travel from Chicago to East Lansing with a reservation paid two weeks in advance only to have somebody look me in the face and say, but we are overbooked. We don’t have a room for you. It was like a scene from Seinfeld. They know how to take the reservation. They just don’t know how to keep the reservation. Will never do business with this hotel chain ever again. The addage, “you get what pay for” was never so true. I forgot to mention that the receptionist kept saying, “we will refund your money without any type of fee being charged.” Any parents of the over 50,000 students at MSU, think twice before making a reservation at Red Roof Inn near the campus; you too might travel a long way only to discover that your paid reservation means nothing."
