"There is a unique charm to the building, inside and out. The Living Room instead of a Lobby, the dining area with coffee set up- a place to enjoy a coffee or take out meal with a beautiful ocean view. Our room was charming and clean. The office staff was helpful with directions, bus schedules, suggesting restaurants, offering to help us w/ luggage up and down stairs, setting up taxis for us and more. We loved our stay. "

"I wish to commend Area Hotel General Manager, Carlos Guzman, who sat at the front desk while his staff had called out sick. Carlos was very kind, courteous and curious about what brought us to the island, and when he learned of our nephew’s wedding and our unmet hope for 2 adjoining rooms to accommodate a daughter and grandchildren, he unsolicitedly upgraded our room to a 2 bedroom suite, which offered the five of us plenty of room and sufficient sleeping areas, as well as a full sized refrigerator and kitchen, to enjoy each other’s company throughout the wedding weekend. Carlos Guzman was personable, fun and funny, and went over and above any expected level of service. He spoke highly of and with great loyalty toward his employer and engaged with us by sharing some of his knowledge of and experience with island life and the people who make the island livable. This young man has earned our praise and I believe, his company’s positive attention."
