We had a very nice lunch on the 28th so only needed a snack in the evening so if sandwiches are only allowed in the bedrooms in the evenings why is there not a menu in the room? We were lucky because on the night we stayed the dining room was very quiet so we were able (very unofficially) to have our very enjoyable sandwiches down stairs - we can't be the first guests to experience this little quirky thing can we? In fact quirky is how I would describe the hotel - nothing seemed to jell - there was no overall pattern - nothing seemed to match - it didn't appear to know what it wanted to be. The location is amazing and needs to be embraced. Would a small area near the bar for snacks and light meals encourage local people to come in - a welcoming something/somewhere is desperately needed. The reception area is easily missed and almost non existent - perhaps that's just a winter thing. The staff were all very friendly which was good and we enjoyed our brief stay but there were several buts......."
