Kata Noi Beach offers the ultimate relaxing experience. This 800-metre long stretch of unspoilt white sand is known as one of Phuket’s most beautiful beaches, and perhaps surprisingly, as one of the quietest. It lies less than a kilometre south of Kata, at the end of a dead-end road. On some days, you’ll find it almost deserted.
The crystal-clear waters off Kata Noi Beach provide very safe swimming conditions between December and April, when the sea is warm and calm. The ocean swell increases between May and October, attracting many surfers to the waves off the northern headland.
Other water sports are on offer, including parasailing, jet skiing and kayaking. You can rent a snorkel nearby and explore the waters of the rocky southern end of the beach during the months between May and October. Discover stunning colourful tropical fish, as well as small coral reefs.
Alternatively, just lie back on the fine sand and soak up the sun. Sun loungers are available, although those in certain areas of the beach are reserved for resort guests only. Should you get hungry, there is no need to venture far, as the sun lounger rental operators also offer snacks and refreshments. From time to time, you may be approached by itinerant vendors offering a whole range of souvenirs. There is no pressure to buy, but if you do, always remember to barter!
Back from the beach you’ll find a small selection of restaurants that serve good-value Thai dishes. Alternatively, head to the Katathani Phuket Beach Resort, which offers six different restaurants serving everything from gourmet Thai food to fresh seafood and Italian cuisine. For a premium dining experience, make a reservation at Mom Tri’s Kitchen. Situated on the hilltop towards Kata, this elegant venue specialises in fusion dishes, accompanied by a vast selection of fine wines. From this vantage point, you will also be treated to spectacular sunsets over the Andaman Sea.
