This is our second time staying here before flying out of Izmir airport. It is a perfectly good hotel for the price but calling it 5 stars is a stretch. Nothing wrong per se but not 5 star amenities, service, attention to detail or quality of materials - ie outdated/old and worn materials in bathroom and bedding, super scratchy towels, unclean sham at the end of the bed. It was perfectly fine for price.

Two weeks in Kaya hotel

Very comfortable hotel located a bit far away from the city canter, restaurants. Car required if you want to be independent. Thermal center is lovely.

Our room was clean & the view of Izmir Bay was beautiful. The food was delicious. The hamam service, thermal pool, heated pool were wonderful. The personnel were very helpful and courteous. The air smelled pine and rosemary.

Bed wasn’t comfortable was rock solid, air conditioning was old and really loud, didn’t really get cool enough in the room. Shower flooded the whole bathroom everytime I used it. Breakfast always had dirty plates left on tables not being cleared up also not many options just lots of different pastries. Definitely not a 5 star hotel top end 3 star 4 at a push. Gym was fantastic however

Lack of basic amenities like water and coffee in lobby area contributed to a lower rating. Spa and pool was great but location is isolated. Rooms are small for 3.

Good location but bad services

The hotel location is excellent and nice hotel indoors / outdoors. However, cleanliness is a concern. They don't clean the room and toilets very well. cups and glasses were left uncleaned almost every day of our stay. Water bottles were not provided, and tissue boxes were missing. The toilet floor was always sticky, and not cleaned. We felt most hotel staff are not well trained and sporting rude behavior.

Great hotel with a very nice pool. My room was super comfortable and always very clean. However, I found the food options just ok. The hotel is close to a lively university and shopping area, but that was too far (20 minutes through a run-down area) to walk to. The only option was taking a taxi, which is too much of a hassle if you just want a quick bite. The other big negative was that, other than the reception, the staff didn't really speak English, so it was hard to communicate, especially special requests. And, this might be petty, but I was annoyed they never restocked the minibar. I didn't want to order room service for a can of soda. There was a lobby bar, but it wasn't set up in a way that you could just grab a drink or coffee and take it to your room. Overall, if you plan to stay mostly in the hotel, you should be ok, but if you plan to go out or try different food/shopping nearby, pick a hotel that is better connected.

Rooms stink smoke smell. Drinking water should be readily available throughout the hotel, not just two small water bottles in a small fridges. Smokiomg area outside the lobbyhas a sliding door opening to a smokers balcony which when opened periodoically, fills the lobby with cigarette smoke and smell, which makes the lobby not so functional for guests who are resting in the lobby. There should be a small coffee shop on the main floor,where small snacks should be available at all times as the main dining room opens at 19:: which is rather late. Please have a look at the 5 star hotels at Cancul Mexico as example. When I visit Cancum full breakfast is included in the room price which is very much a standard right across the World in most holiday destinations. Entrance to the hotel lobby is covered with flat tiles, which in the heavy rain became an ice rink creating incredible slippery surface. It is very hazardous for senior guests. All the walking pathways right by the entrance is full of parked cars, which completely block the walking pathway, forcing the pedestrians to walk on the the road, facing oncoming traffic. When I raised this issue with the front desk, I was told these people who parked improperly were convention guests, a rather poor excuse for not being organized and as yet there is plenty of parking spots 100 metere below.This issue needs to be raised and FULLY ENFORCED as your hotel guests are your frequent customers and yet conventions may not repeat.
