Bergheim
Bergheim blends historic charm with modern student life just steps from Heidelberg's Old Town. This walkable area offers authentic German gastropubs and cosy cafes where locals gather. Riverfront paths invite leisurely strolls along the Neckar. Tree-lined streets connect traditional architecture with contemporary apartment buildings. Convenient tram stops make exploring easy while maintaining a peaceful residential vibe. The nearby university brings youthful energy to this authentic slice of German area life.

Heidelberg City Centre
Heidelberg's City Centre invites you to wander through one of Europe's most charming historic districts. Medieval cobblestone streets lead to the imposing castle perched dramatically above the Neckar River. Students from the 1386-founded university bring youthful energy to this beautifully preserved baroque setting. The pedestrian-only Hauptstrasse offers a mile-long stretch of shops, cafes, and historical treasures. Duck into centuries-old courtyards or climb to Philosopher's Walk for breathtaking views across red-tiled rooftops. The Church of the Holy Spirit's sandstone spire marks the heart of this walkable academic haven.

Neuenheim
Across the Neckar River from Heidelberg's bustling Old Town, Neuenheim offers scholarly charm and natural beauty. This tree-lined district borders Heidelberg University's science campus, creating a peaceful retreat for academics and visitors. The area balances historic villas with modern university buildings along its quiet streets. Take the famous Philosophers' Walk for breathtaking views of Heidelberg Castle and the river below. The Botanical Garden showcases exotic plants while Neckarwiese park provides perfect picnic spots along the waterfront. Students bring energy to local cafés where you can enjoy regional Baden wines and traditional German fare.

Weststadt
Weststadt offers a peaceful escape from Heidelberg's tourist crowds with elegant 19th-century Gründerzeit architecture and tree-lined streets. The neighborhood's beautiful sandstone buildings tell stories of the past while creating a warm, residential atmosphere. Local cafés and traditional German restaurants serve authentic Baden cuisine to residents and visitors alike. The charming Stadtgarten provides a leafy retreat for afternoon strolls among mature trees and walking paths. Two train stations connect Weststadt to central Heidelberg and beyond, making exploration convenient. Experience genuine local life in this historic district where morning bakery visits and evening walks reveal everyday German culture.

Handschuhsheim
Step into Handschuhsheim, where medieval charm meets natural beauty on the outskirts of Heidelberg. The ruins of Tiefburg Castle watch over half-timbered houses and cobblestone streets that whisper stories from centuries past. This authentic German village-turned-neighborhood offers a peaceful retreat from tourist crowds. Bordering scenic Heiligenberg hill, Handschuhsheim provides easy access to the famous Philosophers' Walk with its panoramic city views. Traditional gasthauses serve hearty regional fare while cosy cafes welcome visitors with homemade cakes and local wines. The neighborhood's genuine community atmosphere reveals the true essence of German village life.

Top Heidelberg Hotel Reviews
B&B Hotel Heidelberg
"Walkable from main train station, lovely, modern and sparkling clean room. Easy to get into Main attractions in old town. Extremely helpful customer service team!"
Hotel Chester Heidelberg
"Not far from the city center by car, quiet modern, good ac, everything works"
City Partner Hotel Holländer Hof
"Staff was very friendly, the location is really unbeatable too! I’d definitely stay there again"
Staycity Aparthotels, Heidelberg
"Overall worth the cost. It has all the amenities in the room described- kitchen, fridge, pots/pans, plates etc. The kitchen sink and kitchen in general was super duper small so wouldn’t be good for a larger meal prep. I just heated some stuff up. Hotel was quiet and clean. You don’t get room cleaning for less than 3 days so if that’s important to you, maybe not the best fit. They had signs in English for many things, but I would have appreciated some directions on how to work the induction stove. Since they must cater to foreign travelers given everything in English, you would think they’d realize induction stovetops are not a thing in America. I also would have appreciated a heads up about the major construction and how to safely cross the street to the property from the train station. I just crossed when traffic wasn’t coming and hoped for best. It is a bit of a walk from old town so something to note. Overall woyld stay again and was worth the price."
Premier Inn Heidelberg City Centre
"The hotel was comfortable. It was conveniently located in the same building complex as SCheck market which is very handy for buying drinks, breakfast, fruit etc. It was also locate across the street from the tram, train and bus station and only 2 stops away from Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof and 2 stops from Stadt Bismarckplatz. We rented 2 rooms for 2 and 3 occupancy. The third bed was a pull out single sofa bed. The hotel did not provide daily room service but provided fresh towels and replenishment of coffee when requested. Overall, it was a good location and comfortable for a short stay. Staff were friendly and helpful."
Hotel Bayrischer Hof
"The air conditioner did not work as expected though big fans were provided. Elevator was broken in the morning, so we had to haul luggage down several flights of stairs. However, staff was incredibly friendly and helpful! Rooms were large and very clean."
PLAZA Premium Heidelberg
"Everything was clean and well maintained. The views from our room were wonderful. Great location with easy walking access to so many great places to shop, eat, or just see. My family had two rooms, and since they were across the hall from each other we got to see the castle view and the city view. My photos don’t do it justice."
Hotel Europäischer Hof Heidelberg
"It was quite a pleasant experience with breakfast in the room and staff being ready to serve you and staying with you through the whole process of serving you not just walking away. When we arrived with luggage, the staff quickly came pouring down the stairs to help us, bring the luggage up to the counter .on the whole excellent experience."

"Location is good and easy to park."
