There are two public passenger ferry piers on Koh Phangan. Thong Sala is the main one and serves ferries from Surathani, Koh Samui, Koh Tao and Chumpon. Haad Rin Pier is the second arrival port and just handles ferries plying the route from Big Buddha Pier on the north coast of Samui. The two piers are both on Koh Phangan’s southwest coast and about 10 minutes apart.
Passengers coming from Samui will enjoy the convenience of Haad Rin Pier as the party village of Haad Rin Nok is only five minutes’ walk. The beach at Haad Rin Nai near the pier is pleasant and framed by tropical palm trees. The sand is soft and comfortable for sunbathing, while the sea is balmy and ideal for swims and snorkelling.
This beach is nowhere near as busy as Haad Rin Nok and is very peaceful. The sunset views from this side of the island are lovely and it is worth heading to one of the beachside cafés before the sun goes down. There are some shops and travel operators offering dive tours and excursions near the pier, but a far bigger selection at Haad Rin Nok.
Address and contact: Haad Rin Pier, Haad Rin Beach, Koh Phangan
