"Occidental Costa Cancún Review
We recently stayed at the Occidental Costa Cancún and overall had a very enjoyable vacation. The resort is exceptionally clean, and the entertainment staff does a great job keeping guests engaged throughout the day and evening. The pool is large with plenty of loungers available, so finding a spot was never an issue. The buffet was a real highlight — an impressive variety of dishes, all very tasty and well prepared. The rooms were spotless and comfortable, and every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful.
There are, however, a few aspects that could be improved. You can only book four specialty restaurants during a seven‑night stay, but in fairness, we didn’t mind too much since the buffet food was just as good (if not better) than what we tried in the specialty options. One drawback was that the pool bar and lobby bar are essentially the same space, which makes it impossible to enjoy a quiet pre‑dinner drink. The noise from guests still in bathing suits by the pool carries right into the lobby area, making it hard to relax or enjoy the nightly entertainment — which usually features lovely live music like piano, saxophone, or violin.
We also had to request a room change after being placed just two doors away from the bar. We don’t mind a bit of nighttime activity, but the noise past midnight was too much. Finally, there’s no poolside outdoor food service for lunch; the only option is a snack bar on the second floor, which isn’t ide"
