This stay was a step back in time with all the modern conveniences and amenities. The staff is amazing and helpful with our greatest experience with concierge help, Emmanuel. The breakfast buffet did not disappoint. The on site bars and restaurants were top notch. Don’t miss the historical photographs in the bar. Amazing experience and we look forward to returning soon.

The rooms and hotels are great. Staff is very nice & the pool area is beautiful. I stood twice at 2 different rooms & it’s pretty neat and clean. The only flaw I encountered which was very disappointing is the stained bed sheets in junior sweet. Buy new sheets for crying out loud! It wasn’t even a standard room but a suite!

Nice old colonial style hotel on the beach but charmless staff at reception spoilt the visit - we said good evening mr and mrs ourname checking in the best they could come up with was “passports” and it did not get better. Communication with the hotel prior to arrival was very poor. Lots of work on this needed.

The hotel is lovely and very traditional. The staff are very attentive and always welcoming. The pool area however requires upgrading as the flooring is broken in several places and is a safety hazard.

Our second stay at the Galle Face - once you have stayed there you won’t want to stay anywhere else in Colombo. The hotel is set right on the beach front with a fabulous 30 m sea salt pool A qualified lifeguard is always on duty- a big thank you to Aja for welcoming us back to the pool and sunloungers -a top spot! Happy Hour cocktails on the hotel green to watch the sun go down while the flag is lowered and the bagpipes play - perfect start to the evening. Dine then on the open terrace with a fantastic choice of Sri Lankan and international cuisine. Several bars on site to choose from after this Highly recommend this hotel

Room was what I booked..no upgrade ..even though they said I was. Toilet door didn't work so ja.med and couldn't get out. Bathroom sink clogged.

Galle Face Hotel does live up to its rich heritage and the main thing is the service received from everyone from the concierge team, to the room cleaners, the team in the restaurant that aim to please and even from the man in the uniform employed to scare the birds away with an unloaded slingshot! Yes, the hotel is showing it's age but the rooms are generous and comfortable and the history...amazing! My suggestion is to get someone to show you how to work out the old fashioned key in the lock as it is very annoying and the keyhole is too low to start with!

Wonderful colonial hotel right on beach front Watch the sun go down while listening to the kilted piper playing the bagpipes each evening Large comfortable rooms with spacious modern en-suites Great 30m seawater pool with qualified lifeguards on duty Splendid buffet breakfast with great variety of cuisine to choose from Also evening buffet offering international cuisine with live acoustic guitar set to accompany your dining experience Several bars here serving classic and Sri Lankan cocktails Spotlessly clean everywhere Friendly helpful & efficient staff provide a warm welcome Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough Thank you everyone for all your hard work in making a most memorable stay for us.

It is a beatiful place with the flavour of old authentic feeling but with all the modern conveniences. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The morning breakfast time is a bit hectic but there is plnty of areas to R&R. I always wanted to stay in GF and I fulfiled my dream.

Sink didn't drain properly in the sink. Room looked tired. Wires hanging out behind the wardrobe. Wardrobe not against the wall properly. Some areas of hotel (inside) had no aircon and became hot, stuffy and smelly. That being said the staff we very friendly and the feel of the hotel and reception area was great

This is an iconic hotel, one of the oldest east of Suez. Many remarkable people stayed here in the last 160 years with portraits including Che Guevara, Anton Chekhov…. It is worth going to Colombo just to stay here. The food is not expensive

Worst hotel experience of my life
I was really looking forward to this stay but had so many issues, it’s not funny. 1. There was no safe in our room. 2. There was lots of noise and we couldn’t sleep quietly in our room on the 1st (of 3) nights due to the fact that they were setting up marquees for some wedding event(s). As a non-wedding guest, having to deal with this when the windows have gaps (unrenovated - literally look 50+ years old) letting in all the noise, is unacceptable. 3. On night three, the noise got too much (full blast music going on outside which meant there was no chance of sleep without ear plugs - this is something we considered but other things went wrong - please see next point(s) - which resulted in us just being moved at approximately 11:30pm on our last night. As you can imagine, 11:30pm is not an ideal time to shift rooms for anyone, anywhere. It also meant having to repack our bags and belongings which was super annoying, after a tiring day out (we purposely spent as long as possible out sub-consciously knowing a wedding was on, hoping by the time we got back at 11-11:30pm, it would be quiet/ music level restrictions would be kicking in like they do at most places (have been to many weddings). Didn’t happen. 4. We had some leak (wet floor, damp bed/ curtains) presumably from the air con (?) they said which resulted in (coupled with the noise issues on 2/3 nights) us going ‘this is not ok’. 5. Wifi didn’t work night 1. Got modem. Barely worked after. 6. Bed/ headboard creek
