"During our stay, scheduled housekeeping did not happen. The next day, I reported that washing machine needs filter cleaning, but when I checked that night, it was still so dirty. I need to get a toothbrush from reception desk and clean it for myself or I might not be able to wash clothes that night."

"My Rihga Gran Kyoto stay was wonderful. I loved my room & the property in general. There were lots of elegant features & breakfast was scrumptious. The staff was challenging. The front desk staff struggled to communicate, not because of the language (Google translate eliminates that problem) but because of their frame of reference. Simple things like help booking a dinner at a full place was so hard for them ton imagine. can you call & see if they have room for 1 person at the bar was inconceivable to them. They were astounded when I was repeatedly able to get in to places the website said were full. Same thing with requests to update my key when I added dates to my stay. No you must come down on the check out day & get a new key for the additional 3 rooms. No was their favorite word. So different from the staff at my Tokyo & Osaka hotels. I want to add that it takes them forever to do anything & always requires 3 people. I had some medication sent to me through DHL. It was very hard to get them to tell me when it arrived. They really need at least 1 English speaker."

"The hotel is located across from Tokyo station. It’s very easy to access the public transportation and Shinkansen. The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. I think there’s room for improvement with the check in process. Overall I recommend this hotel. "

"Excellent location near shops, restaurants and transit. Hotel itself is excellent, baths wonderful and staff very helpful. Breakfast isn’t the best value and very very crowded but other than that faultless. "

"We had a great stay. It was near the shopping areas as well as the traditional district Gion. The rooms were comfortable and modern with a bakery and restaurant on the premises. We would definitely stay here again when in Kyoto."

"The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, the facilities were very clean and a nice, artistic setting throughout the hotel. Breakfast was incredible and more than adequate each day, with the common areas being comfortable and inviting. Laundry facilities were small but adequate for the size of the hotel. I would highly recommend staying here if in the area, with a quiet location and proximity to everything you would need. "

"Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay in kyoto. Quiet, fresh and clean, very comfortable, super convenient (across from bus and train station) and lovely surroundings (didn’t feel like a concrete jungle). Starbucks and convenience store right beside us. Of all the places we visited in Kyoto during our tours we continually agreed that this hotel made for the best home base. Breakfast buffet was wonderful! "
