Well, when you pay a price beginning with a 4, you expect value for money! This was a poor standard hotel, I hear the hotel inspector graded it 2/5, I think he was generous! Concierge were great, check in easy, door to the room, handle cane off in my hand! Single glazing windows in the room, thought the birds were in my room upon entry, radiators screaming air in them, awful snowy tv picture and insulted with the old "it's the weather" excuse when reported, wonder what they say in summer! Shower was disgraceful, I had to wiggle round to find a jet stream of water strong enough to get my shampoo off! Clogged up with limescale, obviously never checked! Lovely spa, but the steam and sauna both closed for maintainance! Overall my stay was not at all impressive! Cannot see where they get the room rate from, probably relying on the fact they're in an expensive neighbourhood as its certainly not the hotel which demands such expense! Reported, including photographs, to the manager, I got ... Sorry! Next time I'm in the area I'll book elsewhere!

Liked: Cleanliness
Underperforming Asset
For $1,000/night, there are a few things I would expect to receive, such as valet parking, fully trained staff and maybe an update to very tired room decor.
Everyone was very friendly, our dinner at The Latymer was sublime, the spa facilities are quite nice, but the whole place is in dire need of a facelift and a comprehensive staff training...
Once again this was an excellent place to come and relax. The spa is incredible, the food superb and the service is top notch. Drinks at the pool are pricey but one of life’s necessities. Stay for two nights and leave 5pm on the second day. Book spa appointments well in advance.
Terrible check in experience- long queue then room not ready. Brasserie for lunch also terrible service. However the rest of our stay was good. Dinner in Brasserie much better (different staff who were great).
Outstanding hotel with the most amazing spa and grounds.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
I loved Pennyhill! And have been dying to go for almost 4 years. I booked to go back in January, of course nobody knew Covid would happen. However I was disappointed when I arrived, to find that most spa facilities including all the experience rooms were closed. I had no email prior to let me know, and nobody at check in told me when we arrived. So unfortunately overall I am disappointed which is a shame as I was so looking forward to it. If I had been told beforehand, we would have all chosen to postpone until next year when all facilities were in use
We have stayed here twice- once in July, and once between Christmas and New Year.
In summer it’s fab- using the space outside means it doesn’t feel crowded at all, and if the weather is good it feels like you’re abroad.
In winter, it felt packed and there were numerous groups of people who felt to be honest as if they were there because they’d found a cheap deal somehow? Maybe that was just for the spa. There weren’t enough loungers, so was impossible to rest in between swim/sauna sessions and overall I really didn’t enjoy it.
However the rooms are a good size and comfortable, and the bathrooms lovely. My one criticism would be that both times the room was sweltering and the windows barely open so impossible to get fresh air in there.
The Mitchelin star restaurant is superb, and the service and sommelier fantastic- worth the money spent for sure.
Very Disappointing.
Pool hot tub - closed. The 3 Canadian hot tubs - closed. The only other hot tub outside - well, let’s just say it was as if Club 18-30 were having a drunken party in there!
Towels, dressing gowns littered the areas and the drunk ‘clubbers’ from outside just helped themselves to any gown and any flip-flops! The lady next to me in the sauna had to run out and save hers as it had her phone in it and they were just going to take it...??!! Nothing was safe. To make matters worse we went back to our room at 17:30 and they hadn’t even cleaned our room...!! The lady at reception didn’t really give a damn & wasn’t apologetic in any way. Thank goodness for the 2 concierge gents - they were superb and looked after us and made us welcome whilst we stayed in reception & waited for our room to be cleaned!
I have no idea how this can even considered 5 star. It’s not exclusive, the spa area / pool was nothing better than Coral Reef in Bracknell. Seriously felt like Club 18-30 in there!
Had room service, asked for some fruit too - didn’t get any, no explanation or apology.
There are lots of better spa hotels in the local area, all with better service, cleaner facilities and better value. Hugely disappointing.
Visited with my husband for a weekend break. The room we had was nice and a good size, bed was also very comfy. Would recommend taking bottles of still water as you only get one small bottle in the room for 2 people plus one sparkling and not easy to get cold water from the mixer taps. Small bottles can be purchased for £5. The hairdryer was ok but the cord did not stretch easily from the distance between the low socket and the mirror height so if staying again would take my own. We enjoyed the food and drinks that we had in the bar and brasserie but there was not enough staff on in the bar at lunch and early evening so service was very slow and not great, you could see though the staff on duty were trying their best. We visited the spa Saturday afternoon and Sunday. Our experience on the Saturday was really disappointing as it was so busy we couldn't get loungers or able to use any of the spa pools. On the Sunday morning we had asked reception if it might be quieter and they were adamant it would be even busier and they wouldn't recommend it, we did give it a go however and did find it quieter than Saturday and we were able to use the spa pools and get loungers which made for a better experience. We found some areas dirty assumingly due to the sheer volume of spa users but the dirt was still there on Sunday which meant they hadn't been cleaned in between. In terms of service and experience it felt more like a 4* not a 5* hotel and is somewhat oversold by their marketing.
Very busy! Service suffered as a result. Spa facilities are the draw with this hotel. Standards have slipped simce first stayimg at the property over 10 years ago.
Rooms are amazing - even basic ones. Spa was great. There was no space in brasserie for dinner so book ahead - we did a walk in in the bar which was really nice but service was awful and so slow.
A lovely hotel, and great service. The doorman who researched cigars for my husband was particularly good. A surprisingly personal feel, given how large the hotel is.
Lovely stay for our anniversary. Room a little dusty but hotel very responsive rectifying this. Fab staff and quick service. Would highly recommend and would return to the hotel and spa.
Spa was wonderful, best massage I’ve ever had!
The overall experience was marred by a poor quality hot buffet breakfast, that was far from hot. It was very surprising that a 5 star hotel would not offer a freshly cooked hot full English breakfast. Whilst there were 3 or 4 a la carte options on the menu these referred to omelettes and kippers etc. Added to this, the fact that there was no Maitre d present or any other person of authority in the Dining Room added to a failure on the part of the hotel. The waiting staff consisted of two or three youngsters, that looked like school leavers.
For the price of the rooms, my wife and I expected a superior experience, however we left feeling that we had not received value for money.
